Very well written. Very knowledgeable about her subject.
Book I’ve read in a long time and I bought the two next ones as well. Excellent read. She writes very intelligently as well as warmly and informatively. I wish she had more books

CHEAP BOOK CHEAPENED EVEN MORE BY THE BAD LANGUAGE.
Disappointed as I was looking forward to a good read based on a previous book but the bad language did nothing at all to add to what could have been a good read, in fact it added nothing and completely marred the experience for me.However I do appreciate that most people do have a swear now and then but Authors should realise that there are still quite a number of readers who are offended by bad language and blasphemy. Totally unexpected based on the previous book.

Children, sheep, dogs and horses.
I really enjoyed this book, written in Amanda's rollicking style. In it she takes the reader through the farming year interspersed with tales of the children, the dogs, horses and her relationship with Clive. I admire her attitude to life and living in that she seems to focus on being positive and not worrying about things she cannot change. She obviously loves Ravenseat Farm and despite the harsh conditions would not change a thing. I hope she writes another book as I look forward to knowing how the children develop as individuals. Thank you Amanda for a good read.

Well written and insightful
Amanda Owen gives a vivid insight into her unique way of life in a series of seasonal anecdotes. Her love for her home cum workplace, with all the incumbent challenges of living in an isolated location prone to severe winter weather, comes shining through her narrative. I enjoyed her down-to-earth attitude, her bravery (if you haven't yet read the book, you will know what I mean when you reach that part!) and her sense of humour.Amanda claims at one point that neither she nor her husband, Clive, were 'scholars', but I think she writes beautifully. If she has used a ghost writer, s/he has done an excellent job of making the book sound authentic.I haven't seen the television programmes, nor read 'The Yorkshire Shepherdess' and didn't feel either of these to be detrimental to my enjoyment of the book.

Never a Dull Day
This is the story of living on a farm in North Yorkshire through 12 months. There are 300 sheep as well as some cattle and a few horses. The high land is rugged and harsh but it is the home for pedigree Swaledale sheep. It is run by an experienced shepherdess, her husband and 8 (or is it 9?) children. They all love it; it is their life. But it is hard. The daily commute to school is 2 houra morning and evening, The weather can be daunting but winter or summer the animals and the children need daily attention and unexpected events are frequent. This is straight writing, nothing is made dramatic or sad or wondrous but they are all there. We can read it and value it.

Endearing,beautiful read.
I loved this book because it was raw,and real.Amanda's lively account of her life as a farmer in a remote part of Yorkshire draws you towards the land on which has been farmed for generations. There are a whole array of emotions conveyed, from the joy of her children, to the sadness of losing loved animals. The sheer hard work of the farming year comes through so well in her writing.Together with her husband Clive, and their growing family of talented children, they work the land, tending to their livestock, whilst having a normal life, with the good days, and sometimes not so good. The description of Amanda giving birth on her own at home is joyous.I really did love this book.
