No name Rocky Balboa is offered a chance to fight Heavyweight World Champion Apollo Creed, just because cocky Creed likes the sound of Rocky's nickname "The Italian Stallion." 'Rocky' transcends every other sports movie out there by being about a man who just wants to prove he can go the distance, rather than win outright. Most of the subsequent 'Rocky' films become about winning, but the first one was a beautiful tale of a man who was given a chance and took full advantage of it, he proves to the world what he can do. The first film is also about the innocent love Rocky has for the local pet store girl named Adrian. Adrian never talks and Rocky never stops talking, they're a perfect match.The first 'Rocky' requires a little life experience to get all the nuances and meaning behind it. The rest of the films have their own beauty to them (except 'Rocky V'), but the first film is by far the best of the series.The interesting thing about the later films is that there is still a story to tell with the perpetual underdog's life. His character continues to evolve and change throughout the series, but that humility and drive to excel are always there. In 'Rocky II,' we see that Rocky really has no idea what to do with the new found wealth that he's going to get from doing commercials.'Rocky III' shows us an upset and ungrateful Paulie, as well as Rocky's beloved manager Mickey passing away. In a touching scene, where Rocky cries over the body of his fallen manager we are all reminded that this tough-as-nails man still has one of the biggest hearts out there.'Rocky IV' gives us a glimpse at Rocky's determination and how Creed's cockiness brings him down. Many people consider this one to be their favorite film of the series. It's my second favorite, behind the first film, but for different reasons. By this time they had perfected the fighting scenes and upped the dramatic effect of the sound effects. Out of the series this one is the most fun to watch, but not the most meaningful.The 'Rocky' saga embodies the underdog story to perfection. Like I said, he's always considered the underdog. That never fazes him though. His outlook on life can be compared to another movie character... Forrest Gump. Rocky has the best intentions, and always wants to do right by his friends and family even if they treat him terribly (I'm looking at you Paulie). Devastation meets him at every turn, but he perseveres.Rocky is so iconic and so beloved because we love those gritty stories about people who aren't supposed to succeed, but do. We love seeing someone go from rags to riches. The story of Rocky is full of lessons on life like how to treat other people, what true friendship is, and how love conquers all. Sure I might be getting a little sappy here, but to this day, each and every 'Rocky' film (with the exception of 'Rocky V') chokes me up more than once during its runtime.

Friday night in my house is Rocky and Whiskey night. I needed to make sure I had spare copies as all my copies are prerecorded on my TV and these DVDs are just what I needed.

Rocky Balboa is a legend, like or loathe Sylvester Stallone, mention his name and this character is bound to be at least one of those recited. I've own Rocky films before, but to have them collected like this not only saves shelf space, but looks good on the counter too. A standard plastic DVD case contains all 6 movie DVD's and on the outside of the box is swathed in a card sleeve portraying the title "ROCKY" on the front. As I have already said, a great way to digest these classic movies, and an even better present to give to next generation a taste of this persona.

Rocky: An absolute classic film. A modern day fairy tale set amongst the dirty and depressing surroundings of Philedelphea.Brilliant characters excellently played and a brilliant soundtrack that compliments and even creates the mood at some points. 5 stars *****Rocky II: Still very much grounded in the real world, although the story doesn't differ very much from the first film, this is an excellent follow up. 4 Stars ****Rocky III: The series' wheels have now begun to come off. Gone now are the rival Athletes, replaced by blatant Pantomime villains, not a bad thing in this film, Mr T's Clubber Lang being the highlight. 3 Stars ***Rocky IV: Terrible film. Badly written, poorly acted, highly implausable drivel. Gone is the music we all know and love and sinonymous with the series, in place of cheesy 80s rock. The villain is just plain boring, and there is a talking house Robot, need I say more? 1 Star *Rocky V: Obviously trying to recapture the spirit of the first two movies, the location shifts back to the streets of his old neighbourhood. What was not captured however was the charm. This Film is very dull and quite boring. 2 Stars**Rocky Balboa: A blatant nostalgia trip, but very touching, this is an almighty return for Rockys final movie. It captures the spirit of the first film brilliantly while giving its own relevence and points. A very fitting end. 4 Stars ****

The 6 Rocky movies.Most of the movies are good - the storytelling is good - it's good entertaiment movies for all to see.

shouldn't love it really - it's violent, it's cheesy, in many ways it's phoney claptrap. BUT it is also unrelentless in its compulsiveness - it draws you in, it keeps you in, it's the "please-make-the-underdog-win" gone mad.Yet, it is brilliantly done, Stallone is obviously very very talented both at scripting and directing - it's not so much a "must see" as an important member of your movie library to be seen and re-seen.

A good box set overall, and I got it quite cheap too. Sadly the last two movies in the set - Rocky 5 and Rocky Balboa I found to be quite boring, 5 is basically him feeling sorry for himself and having a little scrap at the end of the movie, Balboa is basically him talking in a restaurant for most of the movie.1, 2 and 4 are my favourites.

ho preso questo cofanetto per fare un regalo. Bhe è stato un regalo super azzeccato!! Il cofanetto si presenta confezionato e quindi riparato, in ottime condizioni. All'interno la saga completa in blu-ray con l'aggiunta del film Creed, poster e la chicca, i pantaloncini. Non è vero che sono giganti, vestono un pò larghi sulle cosce ma sono normali, tessuto un pò scadente ma fa scena. Ovviamente per gli amanti di Rocky questo prodotto è eccezionale.super consigliato

ya recibi mi pedido de rocky en blu ray y la verdad que por 19 euros el precio es inmejorable y la presentacion de la caja es muy bonita mejor que la de aqui sin duda...todas son en castellano menos la primera...hasta el disco de extras es subtitulado en castellano a pesar de que no pone el castellano lo incluyen todas menos la primera como e e dicho antes,si eres fan de rocky o de sylvester stallone no puede faltar este pack en tu estanteria a un precio buenisimo!!
