Original Scores from the Motion Pictures: Friday The 13th, Part VII & VIII by Fred Molin

A much needed accompaniment to the library of Friday the 13th scores.
Like most movie scores, the value of the contents is often weighed in direct proportion to the fandom of the listener. Unless the score has broken that pop culture ceiling and are instantly known by all like John Williams Jaws and Star Wars, or John Carpenter's Halloween, music of this kind is going to have a very specific audience. If you're a casual fan looking for something more universally known in the iconic realm of soundtracks, this is not for you. This compilation is most definitely for die-hard fans of these two films and services that need fairly well. If you wanted the score portions of these movies, you get them here in abundance. If you're looking for band performances that would be more apparent in Part VIII, those are not here. This is strictly the score created by Fred Mollin for Parts VII and VIII.The insert does not contain any footnotes or information other than the track listing and time for each. There is no information inside the folded insert. This is bare bones music on disc. It's a nice collection of music to have in the series, but just remember there is no special packaging. Nevertheless a nice addition for any Friday the 13th fan who collects the scores.

Ki Ki Ki Ma Ma Ma
It's impossible getting the motion picture scores from "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood" and "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" and this release is the closest you're going to get. It's not a disappointment to me, but I'm not musically inclined either. Listen to the samples before purchase, so you know what you're getting. For the record: as a fan of the movies, I'm happy with the release. Maybe fans will get lucky and the patent holders will release each motion picture score in completion.

TGIF The 13th
A great soundtrack that you have never heard. While the cover is kinda lame...the music is what counts. Get 'em before they are gone forever as they are very limited in release.

Great album from an underrated composer
When it comes to the FRIDAY THE 13TH series, everyone is so busy praising Harry Manfredini they forget Fred Mollin's work on the seventh and eighth entries. But Mollin's compositions are two of the best soundtracks in the series, right up there with Manfredini's work on the first or fourth parts. My only complaint would be that the "Times Square" music wasn't included. Otherwise, perfect album.

Annoying and Noisy
The composer did a great job of putting the exact songs from the movie onto the cd. The reason I gave this two stars is because I don't like the music. They all sound the same and the music gets redundant. Most of the music is crashes and clanks to me. Basically its just noise. I recommend the tracks: Prologue/Main Title/Hockey Mask , Dad's Death/The Pier/Matchbook/ Tina Summons/Dan's Death , and End Credit. The cover art looks like it took 10 minutes to make. If you like the music from these films then get it while you can because its a limited soundtrack. The cover art looks like it took 10 minutes to make.
