Groundnut /peanut oil is the best and healthiest for...
This oil is about average price for groundnut /peanut oil but selling it with 6 x .5lt bottles is something that Morrison's need to look at. Weirdly, you can buy groundnut oil in 1lt bottles, so why not a 3lt bottle like one can buy vegetable oil in. Even 15 lt drums can be bought for vegetable and corn oils so why not the nut oils? With all the emphasis on the environment and plastic waste in particular, both production costs and environmental damage can be reduced if the supermarkets really want it.Setting the bottle sizes and the environment aside, I'll now comment on the product. This is a better groundnut / peanut oil than some other producers. On numerous ocassions I have bought groundnut / peanut oil that has had around 5% residue in the bottom of the bottle. However, the residue is not really a concern as it's simply down to the processing and particles of the groundnut / peanuts get past the filtration and those then settle at the bottom of the bottles. With or without residue, the oil itself must be clear as cloudy oil means it has oxidised and could be harmful to use. Groundnut / peanut oil is one of the best oils for high heat cooking. It is also the healthiest to cook with as little oil gets absorbed when cooking at high temperatures. I have used a little from one bottle, to "shallow fry" some home made Southern Fried Battered Chicken Nuggets. The result was perfect. The nuggests weren't oily like those that one buys from takeaways and they weren't greasy like the mass manufactured / processed ones. The groundnut / peanut flavour is not overpowering so the taste was simply chicken and southern fried tastes. One other good thing I find useful for groundnut / peanut oil is that as it can bare very high temperatures before burning, unlike other oils, I find it the best for seasoning my wok. Any pans / pots that are made of cast iron or steel need to be regularly seasoned to avoid rust and to make the pan / pot none stick. This requires the intentional burning of oil. Normally it has to be done in an oven to reach the high temperature needed but with groundnut oil I simply rub a small amount into the wok and put the burner on it's highest setting. As I have an induction cooker, the wok will start smoking after only a few seconds and the seasoning is complete within 2 minutes rather than the 30 minutes to heat an oven to it's highest temperature before putting the wok inside to season. So, that's another thing I like about groundnut / peanut oil.Lastly, groundnut / peanut oil is good in salads but other nut oils are much better. The best oil for salads is walnut oil as it really enhances the flavours of the vegetables. So, for both high heat (shallow and deep fry) cooking and for seasoning pots and pans this oil does the job well.I highly recommend this oil as due to it's molecular structure it is suitable for other things, apart from cooking at high temperatures it makes good furniture polish and is an excellent skin moisturiser amongst other things. So, after buying this oil and when you are not busy cooking with it, it can still be in use for other things, including oiling the squeaky door hinges.

Great value for general use cooking where you don't want an overpowering taste.

For those who love the taste
Although the flavour is diminished due to filtration it is still very good

Nice oil, good value
This a nice oil, flavourless as it should be, that works well for stir fries. No greasy texture, no unwanted disruptive taste, stands up to very high heat in a wok. And a pack of six is good value for money.

Excellent Value.
Bought at £11.04, equates to £1.84 per bottle. Altogether there is 3l of groundnut oil here.. Excellent value for money as a bulk buy. I use a lot of groundnut oil, mainly in my Asian cooking, and I couldn't buy any from Ocado at the moment, must be related to their transition from Waitrose to M&S. Either way this works out so much cheaper and I won't need to buy any groundnut oil for a long while! 🥜🍜
