I ordered this straw to protect our new strawberry plants (36, altogether) as well as to reseed a nice foraging area for our chickens. I had more than enough straw in one package to do both tasks, and since there was a little extra, I expanded the area meant for our poultry. The straw was in excellent condition: sweet-smelling, light blond color, clean, and uniformly chopped. I have grass allergies, so was a little concerned about using the straw, but didn't have to worry because of how clean it was. The straw did a great job of protecting the poultry pasture seedlings and the strawberries, with very little wheat grass growing in the beds. What little there was I simply pulled and fed to the chickens, which delighted them. I 100% recommend this company's straw because of the quality, the shipping speed, and the fair pricing. If you want to go cheap, then caveat emptor.

Great for composting and easy to spread in the garden area. For mulch. Product as described will buy again

This mulch is great. It's light and easy to spread. Also easy to remove and put back for new plantings. Gives my vegetable beds such a clean look. I've been using it all summer and I haven't noticed anything sprouting from it.

The straw is very clean and consistent however be prepared for seeds to sprout. I was not expecting the amount that I got. Every raised bed and pot I put this in had seeds sprout however they are really easy to weed and do not come back once you pull them. A heads up would’ve been great. I feel like this adds some small nutrients to your garden tho lol (gotta take a win and be optimistic where you can) I like the clean look and light weight of this mulch that helps retain moisture. It’s helped with watering less and protecting potted plants in hotter weather. Breaks down well too. I found our potato towers had plenty worms sifting through the straw. I also found that my raised beds had a caterpillar infestation because I noticed them loving the new sprouts that this mulch created. I wouldn’t have noticed it without the weed seeds sprouting so it worked out for me. If you absolutely cannot deal with the little bit of extra work this would bring then stick to wood mulch.

This stuff is great. Water it once after you lay down a layer, and it'll stay in place through normal watering and weather. It keeps the vines off the soil, and it keeps the soil moist longer. And the big bag covers a big area! I have two 30 sqft beds and about 30 big pots, and plenty of leftover straw for the fall crop.

Im not sure what to think about bc im not sure if it’s the product or the company that i had trouble with. I bought this for my garden to retain water and heat/cool soil but it didnt stay put. I brought this one specifically bc i was told it would stay put too. I had to keep replacing the straw over the course of the season and that was not fun nor cheap. That said, it did keep my crops from drying up and getting too hot. Im not sure if i would buy this again though simply bc its too expensive without the guarantee it will stay put. Basically becomes double the cost for the one crop. Maybe i need it to go on big sale or something.

Great product to cover a good-sized area to hold back weeds. Gardeners scraped all my top-mulch from a large, 15 x 30 foot area, leaving the dirt exposed to bake in the sun. I used all 4 bales to make a 2” cover over the area. Looks nice. If you live in a windy area, you would need to thoroughly wet it down so it doesn’t blow away.

So pleased with this straw!! It keeps my plants and flowers from drying out in the hot weather. I wish I had tried this years ago! I haven’t had any wheat seeds germinate as some reviews mentioned. It is a lil costly but it goes a long way. I didn’t think I’d like the look but it’s better than dry dirt.

Lots and lots of dust and debris in all eight bags. Rather unfortunate. The package looked perfect externally.

First time use. Thought straw would not have seeds in it but there’s green shoots popping up everywhere in my garden and containers now! Instead of suppressing weeds, it brought them and I paid $ for them ☹️😱🦨
