House Foods Curry Sauce with Vegetables, Hot, 7 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 10)

I've been looking for a prepared Japanese curry product that had the same taste as the beef curry they used to serve at my favorite Ramen shop, before they stopped selling it (I guess I was the only one who would order it). This is about as close as I've found to it, and it's incredibly easy to make. Makes a great quick lunch out of the microwave with some rice, or you can add in some cooked meat (great use of leftovers!) and make a full meal of it. They also say that you can put it over spaghetti or some other cooked pasta, but that's just a little too strange for me to try. This also works extremely well for camping since it's boil-in-bag and hermetically sealed, or could just be something to keep in the pantry for the long term. It says "HOT" but if you've ever tried other types of Japanese-style curry, the scale of mild to hot is incredibly weak, with mild flavors coming closer to a sort of gravy and hot flavors not even reaching the level of the blandest Indian curry. House Hot curry is very heavy on the apple and is rather sweet, but there's certainly enough spice to make it tastier than the milder flavors and there are a surprisingly large number of veggies for such a small pouch. I'll definitely be ordering another batch once I've gone through the current one.

10/10 Perfect Sweet, starchy, thick, flavourful, not spicy at all in every metric but Japanese, cheap, well packaged with plastic wrapping (to be honest, each of them are in pouch not glass, so just extra care), ship fast, can't demand anything more. Cut open a canned chicken, heat up a pouch of this, make a pot of rice, mix and enjoy the healthy, hearty, wholesome meal.

Japanese curry is amazing

So, the taste is actually great so 10 out of 10, downside I can't really eat it. I am a complete baby when it comes to spices, my fault for getting spicy. I will not hold it against the product though, because that was my fault. I will advise people to wait for a sale though. as there is another curry out there that is half the price and taste just as good. I feel it is weird to name drop it, soooo yah, I won't. Just keep an eye out for a price drop.

My wife and I use this on rice or noodles when we're pressed for time and need to make a quick lunch or dinner. It's quite easy to use, particularly if you have a microwave -- simply put the contents over rice and microwave the whole bowl for about a minute, and it's all heated and ready to go (it's precooked). The taste is pretty good, without being too spicy (it's actually quite mild). That said, the taste does have a little MSG in it, which isn't ideal for us. We would recommend getting this for quick meals, but wouldn't make it a regular household food.

This is a Japanese curry, not an Indian one, so don't be turned off by the description as "hot." It's quite mild. When I was living and working in Japan, there was a chain called Coco Curry that I loved to visit. I'm pretty sure that House Foods owns or is owned by Coco Curry, since this tastes just like their mild curry in the restaurants. There's nothing easier than cooking this, too. However you go about it (boiling the pouch, heating it in a saucepan, or microwaving it on a bed of rice) you can have a hot, delicious meal in about two or three minutes. It won't beat actually going to a real curry restaurant, but this and the S&B Golden Curry (which is slightly spicier) are both excellent purchases for when you want some great vegetable curry and only have about fifteen minutes to prepare, cook, and eat.

I have no other real experience with Curry outside of this brand, but since I enjoy it, I'm ok not knowing what I am missing. I travel to L.A. fairly often for work, and there is a Curry House just down the road from the office that I stop by at least once every trip. When I found out that the Curry House restaurant is owned by House Foods, and I can buy an equivalent product online, I jumped. I've made it in boiling water and through the microwave instructions, and enjoyed it both ways. With the few remaining boxes I plan on trying some new things, and I don't think it will let me down.

This is a very tasty Asian style curry. Since my wife doesn't like curry, it's an easy way for me to have some without going out. I microwave some sticky rice and pour the curry on top. Somewhat spicy, but I wouldn't call it hot. I guess it depends on your spice tolerance. Cannot be microwaved in its pouch, so plan on having a bowl or container if you plan on using a microwave.
