A brilliant Personal DAB radio from a great company - Majority
When my Roberts Sports DAB 6 started to fail after ten years of faithful service, I looked around for a replacement. Having recently bought a larger radio (The Eddington) for use in the bathroom and kitchen, I was so impressed by the quality of the design and craftsmanship, I though I would try Majority's new Petersfield pocket personal DAB radio. I'm SO glad I did. The ergonomic design is exquisite. It fits into the hand as though it was custom made for it - it was, obvs. : ) So easy to set up; it scanned over 200 stations, many that were new to me, but also all my favourites; and to tune the pre-sets, which one can alter just by a simple move of the thumb. It comes with a very robust clip that hangs onto one's belt band or trouser top as though it has the grip of a saltwater crocodile, 3,700 PSI. Once you hook it on, that thing ain't coming off, believe me. I use my own headphones, JVC Flats, and the sound is wonderful. I use it for both speech radio - Radio 4, LBC and Times Radio, and also music - 6 Music, Mi-Soul and a myriad of other stations. It charges fully within a couple of hours. The Petersfield personal DAB radio has become my best friend. I would be lost without it. Majority have become my go-to-brand. They are excellence personified!

Great
After reading the reviews I was bit sceptical of ordering this. Suploed headphones, sound good. Reception hit or miss using the Suploed headphones. Sound is good mind and reception will be hit or miss. Currently writing this review with a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones on, reception seems to have improved considerably and the sound improved. As long as the unit remains reliable then I am more than happy with my purchase and am impressed, for the amount that I paid I'm not expecting a metal sturdy case but the plastic although looking cheap looks OK.

Majority DAB+ Portable Radio - Great Sound, Great Value!
Very Prompt Delivery - Less than 24hrs. Amazing Prime TY. The Majority kit in my experience has been very well built, Sturdy Reliable. Great Value. This is my fourth Majority Purchase and absolutely no issues. This DAB Radio is very compact, very good Sound for the size, Very good Phones included. Comfortable for me. The unit arrived Battery Dead needed Charging, the Scan only picked up local DAB Stations. Did Full Scan no issues, 85 Stations. I am in a very good DAB Area and Coverage is Great for my Bigger untits which are Static, usual issue with DAB move about and the Signal will easily deteriorate to the Washing Machine Warble as Signal weakens. But excellent unit, light very portable, well made. Stand Still or adjust angle and fine. Check the Signal indicator in top right. I thought it might have more Presets but hey..Great Value for Money for sure.

Great little radio, well made, good reception, British brand and competitively priced.
TL;DR - excellent little radio from a British brand with DAB and FM, well made and 40% cheaper than a Roberts. Go for it! I was in the market for a small radio, mainly to listen to the BBC local radio football commentary on FM when at the match, as my old Sony portable FM radio was a bit big to fit in my coat pocket, had manual tuning that seemed to lose the station a lot, and only had a mono output so didn't work well with my stereo earphones. I also wanted to be able to get non-FM channels like BBC Radio 5 live, and even though you can get this on the BBC Sounds app on a smartphone, I liked the idea of not being distracted by looking at a phone screen late at night, so was keen for the radio to be DAB. I was going to buy a Roberts Sports DAB5, but was a bit put off by the £50 price tag, so thought I'd see what other options there were. I had never heard of Majority before, and assumed it was one of those made-up Amazon brands, but having seen the What Hi-Fi review label on the listing, I thought I'd investigate a bit further, and decided to take the plunge. First impressions are that this is a great little radio. It feels well put together, the plastic case and integrated belt clip seem robust, and the digital display is clear and offers different brightness levels. Reception seems generally pretty good, especially when outdoors. It uses the earphone wire as the antenna so the signal strength can be a bit variable when indoors. For example when I first scanned for DAB stations indoors, I could not get any of the national BBC stations. I found that doing a scan of the available stations when outside where the reception is better loaded far more stations and then I saved the ones I wanted as presets (you get 10 preset slots for DAB and another 10 for FM). Once back inside, I could access the stations via the presets, even if the reception was less strong. The built-in battery charges via an included USB cable (USB C at the radio end and USB A at the other end). It's great that it's USB C because I can use my phone charger to charge the radio. I haven't tested the battery life fully yet, but I was listening to an FM station for about 3.5 hours pre-match to post-match at probably 2/3rds max volume and medium backlight brightness and the battery charge indicator is still showing all 3 charge segments, so I can believe the claimed 10-12 hours of battery life. I would have preferred to be able to use replaceable rechargeable batteries (like you can on the Roberts), as I've had bad experiences with decreasing battery life over time in phones, GPS units etc. with built in batteries, but I suppose the built in battery is more convenient, and time will tell if it continues to keep a full charge. I have not tried the supplied earphones so can't really comment on their sound quality, but using my old Apple iPod/iPhone wired earphones, the sound quality from the radio is very good, and goes loud enough that I didn't have to turn the volume up all the way in a football crowd. The buttons on the radio work well and there is a button lock function so you can avoid accidentally changing settings when it's in your pocket. If I was being critical, the 3 buttons on the front (select / change station) do make a noticeably louder click. In most situations this is not an issue, but my wife did complain about the noise when I was using the radio in bed. Overall, this is a great little radio, and for £30 I think it represents excellent value for what it offers. The chance to buy something from a British brand (even though the unit is made in China) was also part of my decision, and there's even a (free) option to extend the warranty to 3 years if you register on Majority's website.

Great budget option, and easy to use
I’ve only had this pocket DAB radio for a few days and I’m absolutely loving it (listening to some Ashes cricket commentary in bed as I write this review on my phone). Within a matter of minutes of unboxing the radio I was setting up my station presets with ease, thanks to the enclosed information booklet. I can anticipate taking out this little beauty with me on my walks to keep up with the football scores, to listen to news bulletins, or to whatever else takes my fancy. It’s so compact and slips easily into a pocket, and even the supplied in-ear headphones stay in my ears! If you’re looking for a reliable, stylish and easy to use pocket DAB radio at a reasonable price, then you can’t go far wrong with this.

Poor Customer Service
Majority have asked me to post a review on a Soundbar. The problem is that I bought a radio not a Soundbar. But it gets worse because when I emailed them to ask how to default to "Force Mono" they replied saying that no such feature exists - it does & it's clearly shown on the display. When I pointed it out I didn't get a reply so I still don't know if there's a way to set it as default. Now to the radio. First impressions are that it's very plasticty & does not very premium. The radio reception is good but there are a few disappointing problems. The first is the aforementioned Mono. I use it exclusively for FM. Most quality radios like Sony, Roberts etc have the option to switch to Mono in poor reception areas. The Majority has the option of Force Mono but it isn't held in the memory so you have select it every time you change stations which means seven key strokes. There are no preset buttons like on the Roberts so you have remove the radio from your pocket & look at the screen. I find it strange that they couldn't of used button reassignment to make the raised menu keys act as preset up down. Another irritation is the side entry headphone jack. Very few headphones come with right angled jack plugs so you are left with the plug protruding from the side & catching whenever you put the radio in a pocket. Majority have offered to plant 100 trees for this review. Hopefully it's not based on the rating. This is a good radio. It could so easily of been a very good one.

Disappointing
Very disappointed. I bought this to replace an earlier version of the Petersfield which I had been very happy with. Unfortunately, this new redesigned version has very noticeably poorer performance than the previous model. Reception is shocking; it breaks up and loses signal in places that I know to be strong signal areas where the previous radio always performed strongly (I live in Manchester and we’re awash with DAB transmitters in this area!) Lots of other annoying little quirks too; it randomly ‘forgets’ previously tuned multiplexes, so some of my favourite stations will just drop off the list without warning (has this happened to anyone else?), it also seems very “deaf” when doing auto scans on both FM and DAB, skipping past even the strongest stations. The “prune” feature also doesn’t work as expected… I could go on! I did email Majority support about all this and got back a soft soap, obviously AI generated reply that didn’t address any of the issues. Think I’ll try another pocket DAB radio instead… so disappointed with this.

Great little radio
I bought the majority petersfield go to accompany me on my walk to work. Never a pleasurable journey. But this tiny radio out perfomes in all areas. Reception is good and sound quality perfectly adequate. I did change the earphones for a slightly higher quality pair I already owned. This was more to do with comfort rather than sound quality. Also the belt clip is very strong. Probably as strong as the door catch on the international space station! A great purchase.
