Love the photo ark book series. Such great pictures and a wide array of unique birds!

Stunning book! It will be a Christmas book for my bird loving son and he will LOVE it. I was entranced by the beautiful photos and tidbits of cool info I viewed before wrapping. The photos of some birds that take up 2 pages still looked lovely to me and did not take the beauty away from it. It will not bother my son either. For the price it is great. It could be even greater if a very large book so one large image is not spread on 2 pages but would cost far more so for the price I am pefectly fine with the layout.

The world's birds are threatened like never before in history due to pollution, loss of habitat and other human actions - direct and indirect - that have reduced populations of thousands of species. Yet, ask most people about species becoming extinct and they're more likely to talk about rhinos or elephants. Noah Strycker and Joel Sartore have teamed up to photograph and write about 300 bird species in stunning, detailed color and heartfelt, fascinating prose that showcases the role each plays in nature. What happens when we who have so much power keep destroying strands from the web of life, like birds? Do we really want to find out? Or can we appreciate their place in nature? It's also helpful to point out that the quality of this book's paper really stands out. If you want to appreciate these birds for their beauty as well as everything else, this book shows it well.

Absolutely stunning. Purchased this book because it appeared to include a variety of birds, and was hoping it included marabou stork photos. While it didn't specifically have the marabou, it did have a section on scavenger birds (and other birds that don't usually get much attention -- including the wood stork). The span of birds covered is impressive (even better than expected) and the photos have a certain dignity to them. The information is concise and relevant. Appropriate for adults and children, makes me wish I had a coffee table -- and, to a lesser extent, friends to read my coffee table book.

This is a beautiful book of birds. The author/ photographer did an amazing job in creating this book recording all the birds of “Noah’s ark”. Each picture a beautiful record to forever create a book of birds before we lose them to extinction due to man’ careless abuse and destruction of the environment.

If you love birds, or need a gift for someone who does, this is it. The photography of single and well as multiple birds are just stunning and I'm honestly not quite sure how they managed some of those shots, some very talented photographers and some super cooperative birds! it The layouts and graphics are as gorgeous as the photos and the book delivers everything the pretty cover promises. Tip: To ensure your book arrives in great shape with an undamaged cover and dust jacket, order it separately. Books shipped separately are sent in padded envelopes and look great when they arrive. When they are boxed up with other items the corners get bumped and the dust jackets get small tears and marks.

Joel Sartore has several different books concerning his projects of photographing all the animas in the world. His photography is stunning. I received Birds of the Ark as a gift, I purchased another book in the series and look forward to purchasing the last in this series. These are great educational books on how world has ruined habitat and made so many species endangered. Every page has beautiful photographs.
