Is this just wood or is there cushion on it?

Thanks for the question, the inside material is like this:bottom is wood, and on the top is EVA foam.

Can this be used outdoors as well? Or is it just made for indoor use? Thank you.

Thanks for your question, the beam designed for both indoor and outdoor use,for indoor use better use the beam on floor than the carpet, cause the carpet will be slipping. Have a nice day.

Can this be used off the floor? Or would that break the hinge?

Thanks for your question, this is floor folding beam,so the beam can used on the floor,or outdoor on the grass.

Will the hinge scratch hardwood if fully extended?

Thanks for your question, the hinge will not scratch the hardwood when it fully extending.cause the hinge is hidden between the two pieces of the hardwood.
