Peterson Pipes System Series Handmade in Ireland Mediterranean Briar Pipe - Vintage Design Collectible Hand Crafted Wood, Standard P-Lip, Oom Paul 304, Rusticated Finish

This is my first Peterson pipe. It has fundamentally changed and improved my pipe smoking experience. It is unbelievable how dry and cool this pipe is. The moisture catch really works without being obnoxious. The P Lip of the stem has taught me a draw method that I now use with all my pipes that significantly improves the flavor, while reducing tongue bite. The ability to safely dissasemble the pipe while it is hot is so convenient. I still have love for my Meershaums and Corn Cobs, but I will be a forever fan of Peterson System pipes.As to this particular one, it stands up well on it's own. (Better than another self standing pipe I own.) I got the rusticated because it was cheaper than the smooth. I still think I like smooth better, but I like this rusticated better than others. I have heard people complain about it saying it does not look refined enough, but I think it looks better that way and it reminds me of the cliff rock of Ireland. It is also a little bit cooler to hold, and probably acts as a bit of a heat sink.I have been carrying this pipe everywhere and I am smitten with it.P.S. this thing is Purple! I did not realize it until a tiny bit of the blackfinsh started to wear off from holding it, but the wood is a purple hue underneith. I am very pleased.

Product arrived with dents in the collar. I didn't notice the damage until I had packed the first bowl and was smoking the pipe because I hadn't disassembled it for cleaning. It's a very nice pipe that I would love to add to my collection of other Peterson Pipes but I'm disappointed with the damage on the nickel collar. I don't think I can return since I have already smoked the pipe.
