This globe is absolutely gorgeous. The actual product is, if anything, even more beautiful than the photos above convey and it has more locations and geographic features labeled than I realized when I ordered it. It has not only every country, state or province, major city, major river, lake, sea, island, and mountain range labeled, but even some individual mountains and historically or anthropologically significant caves, gorges, and canyons (e.g., Chauvet Cave in France, the Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania, Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, etc.).There are drawings of historically significant ships in the various oceans, including a Viking longship off the coast of Newfoundland, the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María in the North Atlantic, the H.M.S. Beagle off the coast of the Galapagos Islands, a Polynesian canoe in the Pacific, one of the Chinese explorer Zheng He's junks in the Bay of Bengal, and Vasco de Gama's São Gabriel in the Arabian Sea, etc.). The mountain ranges are slightly raised on the surface of the globe. The surface of the globe has a slightly reflective sheen to it and the base is certainly real wood. The mount is plastic, not metal, but it looks fine nonetheless.It is more expensive than most globes, but it is of superior quality. It will fit very well in any office, study, or personal library with a traditional aesthetic. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.

This is a beautiful globe. My daughter saw one I had bought for quite a bit more than this one and loved it so I got it for her birthday and she is thrilled. I didn’t think it would arrive in time for her birthday but it came 2 days earlier so perfect. Big thanks to Seller:)

This is a beautiful globe! I did have to return the first one I ordered, because it arrived with the hemispheres not properly pushed together and the equator tape smashed into the resulting crevice. The second globe arrived in good condition (the base was slightly loose - easily tightened with the turn of the screw underneath). Both globes were in undamaged, sealed boxes directly from Replogle, shipped to the seller then shipped to me. So it appears to be a manufacturing quality control issue, which is why I've rated 4 instead of 5 stars. Now that I have the replacement, I'm very happy with it. My old globe was also Replogle but had a plastic base and plastic meridian, and was not very sturdy (although it did survive ten years of home schooling and three moves). This one is very sturdy with the wooden base and metal meridian. It has a nice weight to it, and it spins very smoothly. There are a few places where the lines of longitude don't match up exactly, but I can live with that. I like the old world look to it, with lovely earthy colors, drawings of old ships representing important explorers/voyages, and the elaborate compass roses and legend. Much prettier than the standard blue ocean classroom globe. I expect this one to last another ten years or more, just as functional but more enjoyable than our old globe.

The world has changed and so goes the globe. Replaced my 40 year old globe with a, truly, accurate map of the world. So many new places! I do wear magnifying glasses when I use it. I am 40 years older, too!😀

The globe is beautiful but the paper on the globe is raised in some places and looks like a terrible decoupage application. Trying to decide if I want to return for another one or just return it and find another one. For the price it should look better than this.

I purchased this as a gift for my husband and he continues to comment how nice the globe looks. As with past reviews, the lineup of the seam is not perfect, but it isn't diminishing the loveliness of the globe color, its usefulness and the overall quality.

I have always wanted a globe and found this one, that was not new, and ordered it. I sent a question to the company that sold it to me that I should have asked before ordering. They answered immediately and set my mind at ease. Now that it has arrived I can't take my eyes off of it! It is up-to-date and the hemispheres are lined up perfectly. The beautiful earth tones blend into my décor perfectly. I could not be happier!

The globe I received is not this globe. The base is square wood and the portion and the stem above it and the meridian are very cheap looking plastic. There is a sticker on the bottom, placed over the barcode area, that says it's the Repogle Lenox globe, but it is NOT what is pictured at all.So incredibly annoying. Now I have to deal with returning it and finding the one I want somewhere else.Do not trust this seller! Do not order this item unless you're okay with not getting what you ordered!
