It’s amazing (don’t trust the negative reviews)
After the cats finally got warmed up to it, it’s been one of the best products I have purchased in my adult life. It’s app works perfectly and I have not had an issue like people have whined about (I almost guarantee they have a poorly setup wifi solutions using their ISP rental modem/router combos and no dedicated router). I push a button it cleans, I use the app it cleans, the only issue is hiding the tubes for the water and exhaust tube into the toilet. I had 9 cats in the house fostering and it’s been kicking butt. I am down to my personal 3 cats again and it’s been a blessing I’ve completely removed my regular clay litter boxes (keeping them in storage in case of emergency) but I’m going to be buying another one to go into my laundry room because my cats deserve two places to poop/pee. Finally with all that being said for smaller homes I don’t know if this is the most practical solution because the bathroom is more or less taken over by the tubes and power cables and I have 5 total bathrooms so sacrificing one wasn’t an issue, also eventually there will be a hidden alcove for the actual genie which also isn’t practical for most so take that with a grain of salt everyone’s situation is different.Tl;drPros: 1. Easy af for everything I don’t even think about litter anymore.2. Haven’t had a singular app or connection issue I can even flush it while I’m at work and flush the toilet when I get home3. Smells nice I haven’t smelled any urine and the fresh scent is nice but some cats might be sensitive to it.Cons: 1. Pricy but honestly it’s not really because paying $20 every other week for litter over a year is the exact same price when the granules are mostly permanent other than when it gets kicked out of the box or flushed2. The cartridge for scent is required to operate I wish it could just flush without spraying the sanitizer solution every single time3. Not much other than getting the cats warmed up took some time and placing turds from the regular litter box in the genie to promote them to use it wasn’t a fun time4. Large (kinda) and not for every homeMessage to creators if they even read this: I encourage a mode that lets us sanitize once a day instead of every cycle while it does regular flushes throughout the day allow it to be clean and regularly sanitized without blasting through the sanitizer solution. (I’ve been using manual mode for this reason and absolutely will not put it on a regular cycle like I would like to)Other non cleaning cycles would also be awesome, just a cycle to lay the litter flat again so it’s not lopsided for a second cat to push litter out of the genie would be welcome because I want to save as many granules as I don’t like being wasteful idk I feel like that’s not entirely wild of a concept for a future model and semi easy applicationIf you do consider those and make a new model/update them send me free stuff ;) I’m joking but I would love to know if this was considered or not possible because it was already thought of by smarter people than myself!

Buyer beware. Machine is trash
This did NOT perform as we expected. It wasn't very quiet as we always knew when it was cleaning, regardless of the noise level of the home. The smell was atrocious most of the time when it was cleaning and it never got all of the poop if there was small nuggets or slightly loose, so during the drying cycle, all you can smell is poop throughout the entire house, despite assurance that it "manages and contains odors". The pellets are HIGHLY tracking and very uncomfortable to step on (think of stepping on the really small Lego pieces). The cleaning cycle was NOT fast and efficient, as it would take upwards of 30 minutes to clean itself, and cleaning the machine due to clogs or light guide being dirty was not easy as well, as there was usually remnants of dirty water in the machine, so taking it apart exposes you to smells akin to a port o potty that is in desperate need of cleaning that has sat in the sun for WEEKS. This machine is absolutely NOT worth the $500 price tag it comes with. And getting the cats to assimilate was absolutely impossible. Out of our 4 cats, we only got 1 to fully assimilate. The rest would avoid it like the plague and choose absolutely anywhere else to relieve themselves. When we tried the assimilating methods in the manual they failed, and when customer service sent us "different methods" they literally sent us the methods in the manual. Our biggest issue came in the customer service department, though. We were well within the 90 day return window, but just because we ordered from Amazon and not the seller directly, we were denied a refund so now I'm out $500 because they REFUSED to refund us for a machine that just did not perform as promised. So I was forced to throw it away because I cant ethically sell it to family for what I paid and nobody in my area will pay $500 for a garbage litter box. I will NEVER buy from Cat GenieTL/DR; The machine is trash and customer service won't refund you despite a 90 day guarantee. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WANNA SMELL BAKED CAT POO!

Cat genie
I have had the cat genie it will be a week tomorrow. I am so happy I purchased it. I have four cats. 2 of them are already using it totally. And the other two are starting to warm up to it. With a little more time, I plan on getting rid of the second litter box and only use the cat genie. It definitely a lot cleaner than the automaticbox that I have, where everything goes in a bag. But the smell lingers. I set the cat genie up and haven’t had to do anything. I plan on doing a monthly cleaning to ensure it lasts. ButI love it. It’s cleaner, smells better and it’s pretty much takes care of itself. Other than addinglitter or solution and the soak. I wanted to update this, because I broke the drain hook helping my daughter use the bathroom. Because I have our cat genie running into our toilet. So I called cat genie customer service and they are sending us a new drain hook. They were very nice and helpful with our needs, she even suggested risers for our toilet seat to help from breaking the new one when it gets here. And also let us know when our warranty would expire. I am very grateful to them. And that’s simply another reason why I will not use anything other than cat genie unless they come out with a more amazing one. I am so happy. I went from three automatic litter boxes to one cat genie and my house has lost a bad odor caused by the automatic boxes. I recommend anyone who has indoor cats give this a try, they will be happy they did.Update: I have now had this a month basically and I gotta say I am still loving not having to clean this cat genie. I had a issue one time and when I googled it, it wasn’t draining the line was stopped up so I took a little battery powered air pump and stuck it in the end of the drain hose and blew the line out and haven’t had any issues since. I also have already done the two hour soak and that wasn’t hard either. I definitely Do Not ever want any other litter box other than a cat genie. I just wish the offered washable pellets that are bigger so they don’t get tracked all over the house. That is the only thing I would change. I still think anyone who has cats needs this, it certainly has made us happy not cleaning litter boxes everyday. And our house doesn’t smell like it did. Ok, I just wanted to update my review after using this for a little while I had to have my septic tank pumped. So then I ordered the Cat genie whoosh, then after only two months I had to have my septic tank pumped and the lateral lines jeted. So you may want to reconsider if you have a septic system. Because this has cost a lot of money just because of a litter box.

Love this litter box
I loved this litter box so much I got a second one. I have 10 cats, so litter boxes were a chore (I had 7 automatic litter boxes that helped, but was still a lot of work to clean). I researched these for a bit before deciding to try one, since they are expensive and I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to set up. I got it and set it up in my laundry room, next to another litter box. Set up only took me about 15 minutes. The hardest part was getting the dome to fasten together (ended up using a hammer lol). It took a few weeks and me letting the other boxes get a bit dirtier, but they started using it more and more, so I decided to get another one to set in my bathroom. I've had the 2 set up for about 3 weeks now and they use the other litter boxes so much less. I'm hoping to get to the point if them using the catgenie exclusively, but I am down to 2 regular litter boxes and it has made my life a lot easier. As far as continuing cost, the cartridge is about $25. I got the 1st catgenie the middle of April and it lasted until the last week of May, so 6 weeks. I was paying about $60 every 2 weeks for crystal litter, so in the long run, these not only save me time, a mess, and smelly boxes, they will end up costing me less in the long run, even if I buy a cartridge for each cat genie monthly. The noise level, I'd compare it to a washing machine. It's not loud, but you can hear it. The 2 I have are right next to my bedroom and they don't wake me and I'm a pretty light sleeper. It comes with a bag of litter, I did buy an extra to add as needed and I haven't had to add any yet. It does track a bit more than the crystal litter did, but that's a trade off I'm willing to put up with. Just put a good litter mat under it. I'm actually thinking of getting a 3rd, but I'm not sure the best way to hook it up. My other bathroom isn't quite as big and they do take up a bit of space. Although not much more than a traditional litter box. Very glad I took the plunge.

Worth Every Penny—The CATGENIE Delivers
The CATGENIE is by far the best cat litter box I’ve ever owned. As someone older with back problems, having a truly automated cat toilet has been life-changing. It lasted me well over four years before I needed to replace it for the first time, which says a lot about its durability and reliability. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hassle-free solution, and I truly hope they never change this product.

Avoid this company
After years of using a CatGenie, my wife found a brand-new unit on Facebook Marketplace at a reasonable price, so we decided to "upgrade". The unit was completely unused and still sealed in the box, and we even have the original owner's invoice with the Amazon order number. What we didn't realize is that newer CatGenie units require an “activation code.” Without it, the machine eventually disables itself entirely. When we attempted to activate the unit using the original order number, we discovered that activation is only allowed for a limited time after the original purchase date.We contacted CatGenie support, hoping they could help resolve the situation. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The support agents were rude and uncooperative, and insisted that the only option was to ship the entire unit back to them for an “inspection” to verify that it is “safe for use.”This requirement is particularly frustrating because:*The unit was brand new and unused when we purchased it.*It is currently working perfectly.*We would have to pay shipping both ways, plus a service fee of nearly $100 for the inspection. All of this is required simply to obtain an activation code for a machine that works fine but will eventually soft-brick itself after fewer than 30 remaining cycles. As an engineer and software architect who deals with complicated systems and business processes regularly, I can honestly say this has been one of the most absurd customer service experiences I’ve encountered. Requiring customers to ship back fully functional hardware just to unlock a software activation is incredibly wasteful and unfriendly to legitimate second-hand buyers. There are plenty of competing products on the market, and I suspect many of those companies would rather earn long-term customer loyalty through consumables and repeat purchases rather than short-term revenue from restrictive activation policies.Since my options are limited, I would prefer to spend $500 on an alternative device from another manufacturer. I recommend any savvy shoppers who don't relish the prospect of the manufacturer disabling a device purchased legitimately to shop elsewhere.

Could be great if it weren't for all the connectivity crap
The thing works great until it doesn't. I press a button it scoops the cat poop. Great. It is rather large but that is okay, since it is self cleaning I was able to eliminate the need for multiple boxes. It is now telling me that I have to activate my cat genie in order to continue using it. If I was not past the return window I would return it for that reason. Its sole job is to scoop cat poop, nothing else. It does not need to know the layout of my home or sense nearby devices. I am giving it two stars because of this. I would give it five stars if it simply worked without all the connectivity garbage.WHY DO I HAVE TO ACTIVATE IT WITH A CODE?WHY DO I HAVE TO CONNECT IT TO MY WIFI?WHY DOES A LITTER BOX NEED THE INTERNET!?

Third one, still love it
This is my third Cat Genie purchase and I’m still a huge fan. I had one years ago for my first cat and loved it so much I bought one for my boy friend. When I moved, I left the first one for the new owners because it was such a popular item on the tour. Now I have a new place and the room for a new Cat Genie. I’m so happy to have it back. The automation is fantastic, the cleanliness and smell free house is wonderful. It’s a little noisy but totally manageable with its adjustable triggers. The price is the same as it was years ago and considering how much I’ve saved in litter, time, and sanity, I’d say it was worth it.
