Gave us a brand new door!
Just do it!We were looking for a replacement door and figured we'd try this first. So glad we did. Follow the directions and you'll be fine. We went with Black walnut, 2 coats. We took 3 days to do this door, which included washing, prepping, and painting. Waited a week to put the decorations on and people think we legit bought a new door. Absolutely worth it.Consistency was great, and it was not runny. Easy application. 2nd coat dries ALOT faster than the first so don't be Picasso and paint all over, paint 2 panels at a time as it says. The white door is our door before. The second photo shows the after with the additional decor we purchased separately.

Nice for an inexpensive makeover
Worked well, easy application, has lasted for over a year and still looks good

Easy, and great outcome!
Super easy application. I used this kit on two 10' doors and have a whole can of step #2 left. I found it easiest to paint my creases with the brush first, then roll. Only thing not included was a paint tray. For step #2 I simply dumped it on the mit and spread it out. Using my fingers to get in the creases with the mit. These doors started white and this is after 24 hours drying. If you look closely you can see some lines from the mit, but other than that Very happy with it!

Easy to use and looks amazing!
Easy to use. Looks great! I used it on front door, she'd doors, and garage doors. It made plain white doors look 100x better!! Easy way to update house!

Looks Great. Be Patient When Applying
Update: 10/09/2022; 8mnth later. This product has weathered well in the brutal heat, humid and sunny conditions of central Florida. The garage door, seen here, faces SW recieving direct afternoon sun for more than 6hrs everyday with temps reaching 100ยฐ+ during the hotest months of the year. The stain finish has stood up to the harshest summer time conditions. Even, hurricane Ian that blew through in late September of this year (2022). You can see the satin finish still has a sheen to it, as seen in the last two photos that has been added to this update. I'm updating my rating from 4 to a 5 star rating. Very pleased with this product, overall.Jan. 2000: I chose a cool overcast day to work on this project. Make sure to clean and sand the surface before applying any coverings. Base coat was easy to apply. I used Floetrol to help reduce quick drying time. Be sure to mix both cans of top coat and Floetrol together at the same time, to allow for consistency in application and color. I did not apply top coats with included mitt, instead I used the included brush from the kit. This allowed for more control of the application and, reducing unwanted splotches in the finish. With top coats 2, 3 and 4 I added more Floetrol to help thin the gel a bit more, which was key to ensuring a more unified finish, with a more natural wood grain look. As I applied each coat, I made sure to work on small sections, primarily one raised panel at a time, left to right and fanning out the leading edge of the brush stoke right to left with no gel on the brush. By doing so, I was able to create natural looking wood grain finish.Overall, I took 7 hours, with drying times between coats, over a two day span. Following the instructions provided with the kit, would not have given the result I achieved. I am extremely happy with how the garage door looks. I don't believe that the stated 3 hours to complete the project, would have given the same results I received. I'm glad I took my time and went above and beyond to achieve the outcome I have received.I will follow-up with a durability review in 6mnths. I'm curious to know how this product will hold up against the sunny hot tropical conditions in Florida.

Wonderful product!
My garage doors were pretty banged up from the former homeowner. I wanted an affordable solution to camouflage the dents and found this product. Wow! This product is amazing, youโre given more than enough supplies, well written instructions and promised results. 100% recommend, my garage doors look beautiful and brand new!

Amazing! Looks like wood !
After getting a $16K quote for a real wood garage door to match our front door, my handy wife decided to try painting our door first. This was pretty much the only kit she found. The toughest decision was whether to buy the Honey Oak or the English Oak and we decided to buy the latter which was the right decision. The whole kit comes with two little cans of primer, two little cans of wood paint, a mitt, a brush, gloves and I think a drop cloth. We just had to buy a paint tray or two. At first I thought it wasn't going to be enough but I still have a can of primer and half a can of wood paint. After doing a ton of research on the best method, I applied the primer with the awesome brush. The primer is very good quality and goes on so smooth. I let it dry overnight and the next morning, I tried applying the wood paint first with the mitt and then the brush separately on my own on the lowest panel. Not easy because the paint dries really really fast.Personally, I think you need to use both - use the mitt to apply first and the brush immediately afterward to even out the paint. Thank god my wife loves to paint so for the rest of the door, I applied with the mitt while she followed me with the brush to even it out. I think we applied about three layers in about two hours before the sun came out and it took about 24h to completely dry in hot weather. The cleanup was also super easy because it's water soluble while wet.We and our neighbors can't get over how much our door looks like real wood!! If you want it lighter, just apply two coats and keep applying if you like it darker. (The pic with my hand is one coat, the honey color is with direct sun and the darker pictures are the final. We painted it a bit darker because it will likely fade a bit in a year.) You just need to be mindful of letting each layer dry thoroughly or it starts to get sticky and gummy each time. If you have the bevels in your door, it tends to accentuate the wood like. Have fun!

Turns out great as long as you arenโt a perfectionist
Update 7/6/2023: less than a year later, it is peeling. I did a lot of prep work as I had read through the other reviews and thought if I did thorough prep work that it would stick. Or not ๐ I live in MN - brutal winters and the garage is textured and in full sun. My front door (same product) that is not textured and behind a storm door is fine. But unfortunately I can no longer recommend this. ๐I did my front door and garage door. It didnโt take that long. You do have to move briskly because it dries fast. If you are a perfectionist, pass on this product. It went much faster on a textured surface. My front door was smooth so I had to get a bit more artsy with it.When doing your garage panels, make sure to swipe all the way across the small squares. Although visitors canโt see the difference, it definitely stands out to me.Wash the doors before hand. Make sure to let it dry. Patience is not my strongest virtue, so I do have an area on the top panel where it was a too wet and left a small odd pattern. No one else seems to notice it.The front door took a lot more than two coats. I kept layering it until I got the look I wanted. It did turn out darker than the garage, but itโs far enough away it doesnโt matter. The garage door could have used two full coats but it got one coat plus spot checks.Donโt do it on a windy day. I tried everything I could do to keep the plastic down. I still got paint on my concrete. #firstworldproblemsI didnโt do in between the panels and I donโt regret it.I used the mitt on the garage door (textured) but not the front door.Durability wise, I live in MN and completed this project this past fall. So, give or take five months, itโs doing well.I paired this with the magnetic โwindowsโ and โhingesโ. I think it turned out nice. I feel like itโs obvious itโs painted but all my visitors have said they thought it was real. Soโฆ I either have super nice friends or the project turned out ok.I do recommend this and I would definitely do it again. Crossing my fingers it wears/ages ok.

Good result with practice of directions.
Impressive. Follow the directions, less is more when applying the stain coat. Looks realistic but practice first. You can also tint the base coat with amber or yellow for a warmer wood look.
User
Achieved!
The instructions was straight forward. But to achieved the wood look grain, you have to apply the wood stain several times. Other than that I have no problem...it save me thousands of dollars to replace a functional door for cosmetic reasons.

Easy to work with and get the result
I have painted my garage doors last year and happy with result - however, the amount of primer for two garage doors are sufficient, but the actual Wood Look Paint Black Walnut was not enough to get best result.

Black walnut
Definitely not a 3 hour job as they claimed, took me 3 days including prep work (wash and sanding). But I have never did this type of job before.I had to purchase 2 kits for a double garage and double front door. I chose black walnut and probably had to do 4-5 coats of top stain to get the results until we were somewhat satisfied of. If we just did 2 coats as the kit suggested it kind of just looked like a bad painting job.It was not an easy project, but I am glad I finally did it. Received some compliments from neighbour's and friends.

The product is not for me
The idea of an all-in-one kit that would be all thought out for me seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately, the result is not a look that I would want on the front of my house. As usual, if we want to have exceptional results we have to put some time and effort into it. Doing some research on YouTube I found out some techniques that could provide that great look that I was looking for and how to do it. With a beige latex base and a mix of gel stain and clear coat (about 3 parts stain to 1 part clear coat) and a little creative artwork, you can do something worth putting on the front of your house. Unfortunately, this product is not worth the money and does not give a wood grain look, and both the seller and Amazon will not refund or help me in this matter. I lose $115 in the experience and had to find my own solution to do the job over.
