Great pump!
Fantastic sump pump, either as a permanent or temporary solution. My existing pump failed and I couldn't get a plumber out for almost a week. (PVC connections and backflow valves needed professional help.) I dropped this one into the sump beside my existing pump and it worked flawlessly! It comes with a connection for a standard garden hose AND it has a simple backflow valve included with that connection. Very quiet, and it turns off automatically when the water level drops below the intake. From my sump up to the basement window is about 8 feet. (Fairly straight up.) I used a 25-foot garden hose and this pump had zero issue getting the water pumped up and out.

Pumps More Water Out to a Lower Base Level than Other Similar Sump Pumps and has a 30 foot cord!
I have only owned this pump for less than one month, but will tell you that it works exactly as described and turns on and off automatically in the crawlspace entry of my home and expels incoming seeping rain water efficiently to prevent that water from traveling and sitting beneath my woodframe house. The only thing additional thing I did was to separately buy from Home Depot a square black plastic perforated pond filter square shape open top box ($4) which fits this unit perfectly! I placed the pump in this plastic box to serve as a strainer and to prevent leaves and debris from entering the pumps flat bottom surface water entry area and clogging the impeller. This pump removes water to a lower base level than a prior automatic sump pump I bought at Home Depot (also from China) that had cost more than double the Amazon price! My only slight gripe is in the instructions which do not clearly show or explain how to install the check valve piece to prevent water from backflowing into the pump whenever it periodically stops pumping water, but I eventually figured that out. The only other complaint I have is that the screw provided to attached the round plastic handle does not easily screw in with various screw drivers and unless you can get it all the way, the handle will remain partly loose and will likely eventually break off over time, but with some persistence I finally got it in all the way. By the way, no other pump manufacturers designed similar pumps with a heavy duty, 30 foot long, three pronged extension cord which meant I did not have to shell out money buying an additional one (and they are not cheap).

Starts pumping at about 1/2" of water!
We got this in addition to the pump we already had for our basement. Most of the basement pumps do not even turn on until there is 3 or 4 inches of water....already too much water (IMO) for all the stuff we have down there.Anyway, this little pump is the answer...the only issue I see is the little rubber fitting called a "check valve" is not great.I put a 3/4" inline pvc check valve in lieu of the rubber one provide, so when there is no more water to pump it does not backflow and then pump, backflow then pump...etc...you get the idea!Other than that, am very happy with the pump!

UPDATE: A Lifesaver, but unreliable at times
UPDATE: Most intense round of storms took the lil guy out - temporarily. Brought inside and it ran fine in the sink. Plugged in outside and dead. Had to take apart and it finally worked, but with much less PSI as a rubber stopper on the top of the unit was leaking water. Hope customer service backs product!ORIGINAL: Unrelenting storms in southern California flooded the backyard. Standing water 3"+ everywhere. The chances of water entering the house was increasing by the minute. That's when this little, yellow superhero arrived. In less than 5 minutes to hook up the garden hose and plug in, the water began to subside. It worked in muddy and grassy areas and sticks and pebbles were easily wiped off to ensure max suction. And with the storms lasting over a week, the auto on/off was huge.A unit of this type is $50 more in the local DIY stores. The decision is easy. Buy one of these and forget stressing when those dark clouds roll in.
