Gunpowder Paint for Model Y 3 S X Uberturbine/Arachnid/Cybersteam/Turbine Wheel

I bought my 2021 Tesla Model Y Performance used, and 3 out of 4 of the wheels had been curbed. 2 out of 4 had red paint embedded in the rash, so this knuclehead obviously curbed the wheels in a NO parking zone. LOL. Included in the deal was $65 x 3 to have the curb rash fixed. Instead of taking the car back to leaving it for a day to get the wheels fixed, I thought, "I'll try to fix it myself. If it doesn't come out good, I'm out $10 and if it does, I can get $195 back." I used a Dremmel with a sanding drum to gently take out the worst of the rash and then painted over those spots with this touch-up paint. BAM!! Good enough. If you get up close you can see the rash, but from more than 5-6" you don't even notice it. Keep in mind that the human eye is automatically drawn to the lightest/brightest object in a scene or photo, so the main reason curb rash gets your attention is due to the bare aluminum showing thru the gunpowder gray finish of the Uberturbine wheels. One change I made was to upsize the tires to 275/35-21 front and 295/35-21 rear and the tires now covers some of the rim that had rash AND provides protection against ME being the next knucklehead to curb my wheels. PROS: - Matches Uberturbine wheels perfectly - Easy to apply with the beveled applicator brush - Come with more than enough to fix your wheels and have some for future mishaps CONS: - IDK? It's paint so go slow and try to apply to only the areas where the finish is damaged. Be sure to shake it up to mix the paint well, as it is metallic paint.

This is pretty spot on touch up for the 21in wheels. I mixed this 1:1 with extra slow reducer and sprayed it through a Grex airbrush with a .7mm needle/nozzle at 25psi. The application is easy like any other solvent basecoat. I applied 4 medium coats finished off with a light pass about an inch past the repair areas. You could probably get away with less coats but I was covering filler I applied to the deep gouges and didnt want to deal with primer work. I finished off with Upol Blend but that probably isn't necessary. The appearance is really good. You can see it is a little bit lighter than OEM but I am happy with it until I have time to repair all of the damage and repaint the entire wheel. If you added a drop or two of black toner it would probably be spot on. I can't attest to durability but I expect it to perform like any other solvent basecoat. For the price and color match this is a good value for the money and is enough to perform multiple repairs. If you are doing a full repaint Suzuki ZMW is a great paint code to have mixed that I have used multiple times. Unfortunately my mixer has a 4oz minimum which was way more than I needed for doing just one wheel.

Basically identical to the original color. Had to shake it for quite a while, but it looks great and dried very quickly. I did sand the edges of the wheel lightly, and in retrospect I should've done more. However, the previous damage still is unnoticeable unless you're looking closely. Had tried the stiletto silver but it was a few shades too light from all the metal flakes in it. This gunpowder paint is a little on the dark side but that’s less noticeable than too light. Applies well on a sanded surface and goes on smooth with minimal application. Seems to work best with minimal brushing and two light coats. A little buff / sanding with 2000 grit probably blends it nicer than I have

9/10 on color match. My wheels were pretty jacked up so I sanded them lip down a little and applied the paint from this little tube heavy and it turned out pretty good! Not perfect but pretty good! Definitely better than before! Worth it!

Did not match Tesla rim as it said it would.

This stuff is awesome. It is an exact match for the gunpowder rims. I am actually blown away. I think the key is shaking it aggressively for 2 full minutes before using. I had some pretty severe curb rash on all four rims. I decided to check a couple days after application and it took me awhile to find the spots I touched up. I was hesitant in purchasing, if you feel the same way just buy it. I know it’s already a cheap price but no one wants to buy junk.
