What is the gear ratio of this winch? How much cable/wire is spooled up with one turn of the handle?

On the Amazon site, the ratio is given as 4.2:1. The line retrieved per turn depends on the layers of line spooled on, making the retrieval per handle turn; the diameter of the current spooled diameter times pi divided by 4.2. For example if 3" in diameter of line was spooled, and the line diameter used was 1/4", then the retrieval per turn would be: (3" + 1/4" × 3.1416(pi))/4.2=2.431". For the ability to lift 1200 pounds, this winch has a high numerical ratio, i.e. it is geared quite low and takes many turns of the handle to retrieve much line. For my purpose it is an absolutely wonderfull solution.

Will this winch last if it is used for permanent use under water. Fresh water.

I would think the composition brake within would not hold up. But I can not be sure

are all components on this winch stainless? If so , what grade stainless is it? 304 ? 316? 314? thx
