Easy to use and does the job

I say sturdy because when it arrived the packaging was destroyed. Fear not it was still in one piece and works perfectly. The two settings are ideal as the 100w heats the glue to such a temperature it is workable for much longer

Having an old Stanley glue gun that was starting to struggle to feed glue sticks through, this provides a good alternative to take over for major hot glue jobs! I do have a cordless glue gun for smaller projects, using whichever suits the size of the project, this glue gun takes the same size sticks, whereas the Stanley had its own bespoke size! So will be easier to maintain a supply of glue in the workshop – it takes 11mm if like me, you could not make sense of the imperial measurement given in the advert! This unit seems well made, light enough to be easy to handle without any fatigue. I was surprised at how quickly it heated up – certainly at the quicker end of the stated 3-5 minute heat up time, with the glue coming out cleanly and smoothly, with no dribbles and not a lot of effort exerted on the trigger. When dried, provides excellent adhesion, with the glue drying to a slightly opaque colour, normal for this type of glue. The two settings (100w & 60w) are to give different options, with the 60w giving glue that dries quickly and the 100w for projects where a slower drying time is required. The 60w is indicated by a red LED and the 100w by a green LED. I had expected the LED to show it reaching operating temperature, maybe showing red then going green when ready; however it does not offer this, so you have to try the trigger after the appropriate time to see when it starts to flow. Not a big issue, just would have been useful information, as it does state not to pull the trigger when pre-heating! It has the same issue that all corded glue guns seem to suffer from, the cable exerts so much pull when you try and put it down on its stand, it becomes quite unstable. The built in wire stand it comes with just about keeps it upright, but would not rely on it! A good upgrade on the Stanley glue gun for me!
