Surprising high quality - I want a second one
I will be honest. These days I don’t really expect very much when I order online, especially little tchotchke decorations. Between the overall cheapness of the too-broad selection and the chaos of shipping… well, you probably know what I mean.Hence I was so shocked when I opened this package up and saw and felt this little gnome that I literally squealed. Literally! I squealed! “Oh my gosh you are freaking ADORABLE!” I couldn’t believe the quality. I actually still can’t, which is why I came back here to do a review.—-*NOTE - I have a fairly strict rule about reviews: If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. It comes from having to make my living off of something subjective (art is subjective by nature) that garnered reviews. I know how much they can cause very real harm. So if you look back at my reviews, you will see that I tend to not leave very many bad reviews. But please don’t let that affect the weight that you give my opinion in the good reviews, because it really takes something impressive to bring me back here. I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on Amazon, and if I reviewed every single thing, I would never have time for anything else. I’m not actually exaggerating; the math adds up.—-This gnome is very heavy. He is solid rather than hollow. The carvings are detailed and smooth. The painting is NOT haphazard. It was NOT done rapidly or messily. It actually looks perfect. The artist/producer paid great attention to detail. The little lantern light shines bright at night after it has absorbed the sun. It still looks fantastic even after a wind storm and several sprays with the sprinklers, so it seems pretty weather sturdy.This gnome has become the centerpiece of my garden. But I’m thinking about getting a second one to keep inside. Maybe by the kitchen sink window. He is just so pleasing, such a wonderful surprise. Very high-quality and I very much recommend.
