Does not work well
I guess you get what you pay for. Does not work well. Ended up having to buy the more expensive torch paste to get good results on cutting boards

Comparison vs. Scorch Marker
The first thing to know about this stuff is that you canât use it with an oven. You 100% must use it with heat gun.I have used Scorch Markers with success in the past and a good friend swears by scorch paste for making custom burned cutting boards, so I was excited to try this product. This paste looks almost exactly like barbecue sauce when you put it on. I use the stencil included with the paste and applied it using a cotton swab. It was easy enough to apply, but I strongly suggest that you wear gloves. The paste is supposed to be nontoxic, but I found that it stained my skin thoroughly. There are no temperature or time instructions included with the packaging, so I tested two craft wood circles side-by-side with this paste and a Scorch Marker. Following the Scorch Marker oven directions (350°F), this paste showed almost no color change after 10 minutes. With 30 minutes in the oven, it did start to brown slightly in places, but nowhere near the level of burn that I was looking for.I did some research on Torch Paste and found that it needs a temperature of 400° C. So, I put my oven at 400° C and after five minutes, my circle was pure charcoal. I made another circle with scorch paste and tried again. This time I let the paste cure for a couple of hours before baking it. I checked it every 10 seconds and took a picture after 30 seconds in the oven and 60 seconds total in the oven. All pictures are attached to this review. 30 seconds wasnât nearly enough time and 60 seconds was far too much.I was really disappointed in the oven performance of this pyrography paste. It was really hard to find the Goldilocks spot that caused the paste to burn but didnât burn the surrounding wood. Itâs much easier to do that with other products, in my opinion.Iâm sure that it would be much easier to nail the perfect spot if you were using a heat gun and instead of an oven. However, I prefer an oven whenever possible for evenness of heat and the fact that an oven doesnât accidentally catch surrounding materials on fire like a heat gun can. I might play with this paste a little bit more in the future, but it certainly isnât my favorite chemical pyrography product.
