Richell Hands-Free Pet Gate

Very good quality and well built. Expensive for a gate, but if you want something that isn't total junk, this is it.

This is easy to install. Looks good. Is excellent to use hands free when your hands are full.

Overall a great product. Plenty sturdy and tall enough even for large dogs. Our only nitpick is that the pedal is on the opposite side from where the gate opens, so it can be a little awkward to push it open with your knee. Overall very happy with it.

I love this gate! It wasn’t terribly difficult to get in and installed, I think others might’ve had an easier time than I did. Anyone should be able to install it in short order. The hands-free is a godsend! Carrying laundry and so on when you do not have a hands-free gate is no fun at all. I don’t really know what to say about the sheerness category in the ratings but it’s a tractive enough even though clearly there’s a gate there LOL.

I purchased this gate in April 2018 for $121. Recently the foot pedal broke after light to moderate use by adults only. Richell tells me I cannot buy a replacement part since out of warranty after 7 months. If they receive a returned gate I may be able to buy that foot pedal. I liked and had recommended this gate. I would no longer recommend it.

This gate has exceeded my expectations. Its sturdy, fit my wide entry, it stays locked open for easy passage, and the kids can climb all over it without fear of tipping over. Probably one of the best dog gated on the market.

Do not buy this product if you are unsure of the required size requirements. Note that each unit comes with one extension (not stated); the actual max width without the extension(s) is 32.9", 37.2" with first option, 41.5" with two options.I bought two (2) due to hands free operation and rubberized wood for more durable wear (dog biting). The first went up well, as expected and fits a 30" door frame nicely. Functions as described; high quality parts and looks good.Definitely too expensive.The poor rating comes from the misleading description and return policy. It is stated to have a maximum width of 37.2", and an option to include two (2) side extensions, 4.3" each. My second gate was to fill a gap of 43"; hence, I additionally ordered two extensions and believed this would work. Instead, the unit already comes with one (1) extension option; the stated width of 37.2" already assumes this. Therefore, I did not need to purchase both extensions and the absolute total width with both opted extensions sum to 41.5" - short of what was required. Placing additional blocks or a third option are not possible.In terms of the return policy, It is not handled or honored by Amazon but instead Richell USA and Revival Animal Health. They do not provide a return shipping label; hence it cost me $53 to send the one gate back and another $26 for the extensions - all going to the same place. Also, they charge a 20% restocking fee. The boxes for the gate and extensions ($29) dollars a piece were unopened, since I had the correct dimensions and instructions from the first gate and made the determination. Therefore, I ended up paying $120.40 to return the unused gate and extension - FOR NOTHING.Worse, I returned this particular gate for an exchange for another Richell gate that would fit (albeit, freestanding and not as secure). These companies typically have already negotiated volume shipping rates, for much less than than what a typical consumer has to pay. Further, that cost is built into the overall price. Seriously, I am willing to pay for good durability and quality; however, 150 bucks is exaggerated. Throwing on top a 20% restocking fee is insult to injury - like a punishment for not interpreting their misleading description correctly.Any chance or concern for customer loyalty or professional service to return my calls - ZERO.What is done, is done. I would not have made the exchange had I known about their return policy (Amazon only states a difference might exist from their own with some third parties). I will never purchase another item from Revival Animal Health or any Richell products. Bindaboo and others are just as good.
