LaCie 2big Dock Thunderbolt 3 16TB, External RAID Hard Drive, with SD Card CF Card Slots, for Mac and PC Desktop, Thunderbolt 3, USB-C, 5 year Rescue Services (STGB16000400)

I am glad I bought this as I required large capacity storage for work. The storage is pretty noisy, and the large blue light to the front and smaller blue lights to the side are a bit of annoying, but easily fixed with a bit of masking tape.The only issue I have had after a few months of use is that power through appears to be insufficient when attaching a 2TB Seagate drive to the LaCie drive, then attaching the LaCie drive to a MacBook pro (late 2019) using OSX Catalina, where my Mac battery was completely drained. I am not sure where the issue lies, the LaCie drive, the external Seagate drive or the Mac OSX, but something to be aware of. Plugging in the laptop's power supply resolves this issue. So recommended, but watch your battery.

This drive was a replacement for an earlier 2big (2x4 Tb) drive set up as raid 1. So far it’s been perfect but since I only have a Thunderbolt 2 interface I have yet to see any performance increase. What I have is it daisy chained to the earlier big 2 and have found that on one occasion all the leds stopped working but the drive continued to work. Currently keeping an eye on this issue to see if it happens again. Hence the reason for only 4 stars.

The drive repeatedly goes offline without warning - see La Cie website for "partial fix" for MacOS that does not fix it at all, just reduces the frequency of disconnects. The power supply failed within weeks. Zero stars.

Not plug and play for Windows. No initialise process when first plugged in. Cant delete first volume as per Lacie website instructions. Broken links on lacie support for fix. 2.5 hours of wasted time and counting.
