From the Viking Age, the Borre "ring braid" is a Scandinavian animal style celtic knot which is named after a boat grave in Borre, Norway. This band is 10mm wide, very sturdy, and set with a large Garnet in a deep and vibrant red. Crafted of nickel free sterling silver and marked 925. As with any wide band ring, order a size larger than you would wear with a thin band ring.

Beautiful, substantial ring!
I had to give this ring a bit of time before reviewing it only because it was actually too big for the finger it was supposed to be worn on (ordered it to replace my engagement ring on 4th finger of right hand, and am currently wearing on middle finger of right hand). I took the advice of other reviewers and ordered larger than what I thought I might need (8 instead of 7) because of the width of the band. Now yes, it is a substantial band, and I can see the wisdom of such advice. I do not blame anyone but myself for overestimating how fat my fingers are. :) But I had to wait on the review because I kind of resented that the ring wasn't on the "correct" finger. (Didn't want to return it because I'm in Australia and would have to return it though family members.)I've been wearing this ring for over two months now, and I really, really like it. It is a striking piece, well-crafted and very detailed. A friend said that having it on the middle finger is actually quite good because it gives the ring a good presentation, balancing its size and impressiveness against my smallish hand. The garnet is deep and dark red, not dirty or ugly in any way. The silver is bright and shiny, and my finger has not shown even a hint of going green as some reviewers commented. I really do love this ring, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. Silver Insanity is awesome.Update: Now mid-2013 - have had this ring for over two years, and although I do not wear it ALL the time, I wear it quite often. It's still shiny, still polished, stone is gorgeous, and I've never had any problems with it. Am contemplating getting the plain version of this ring as an alternative to my gold wedding band - this time I'll know what size to get!

Even more beautiful that the photos!
I’d been looking at this ring for quite a while as an anniversary ring. The ring was shipped out the day it was ordered and arrived two days later. It was well-packaged in a small cardboard box. The ring itself is gorgeous. More so than the photos online suggest. The combination of the knot band and the blue stone is especially dazzling in the sun or any sort of light. The ring is quite comfortable, too. I ordered my usual size (the only size in which the blue topaz is available) and it fits perfectly. I also like that the stone, though substantial, has a low height profile, making it less likely to get caught on stuff. I have found my anniversary ring! Thanks so much to the folks at Silver Insanity.

Better than the photo!!
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars...it is absolutely gorgeous, and completely well worth the price. It is a significant sized band, so it was necessary to order at least 1 size larger; depending on the day and how swollen my fingers are, I can wear it on either my middle finger or my ring finger. To anyone purchasing this, be aware that a wide band means you need to order a size larger than what you would normally wear.Another thing I like about this is that the band almost looks like chainmaille jewelry; it looks vaguely similar to a full persian design. Also, the garnet is a great deep red, just like a garnet should be, and it is well placed in the ring; I`ve purchased rings before where the garnet was not set properly into the ring and was placed in on a slight angle. This, however, is perfect.

GORGEOUS! Very unique and comfortable.
This ring is absolutely GORGEOUS! At first, I thought the garnet stone was a little dull in color and lacked sparkle, but the ring just needed to be cleaned! (It didn't look dirty, but that made a big difference!) The garnet is actually a nice, quality, deep red and it sparkles beautifully! This ring looks very elegant and classy. The packaging was alright, not the best for gift giving though. The ring itself, most importantly, arrived undamaged. It is very unique, has a beautiful design and is comfortable to wear too. Thank you!

Turns fingers green
The ring came really fast so for shipping I'd give 5 stars. It's very pretty, the stone is really really dull and looks more like one of the stick on rhinestone earrings from the 90s. The main reason for giving it one star is it turned my finger green in less than 6hrs. I got it last night, put it in and got up this morning to a big wide green band around my finger and hand where I had my hand closed. Pretty but not what I'm looking for.

Not sure how to rate this.....
It is a nicely designed wide band ring and the garnet is a good red color which deserves 5 stars. But it is not nearly as "beefy" as it appears on the website. The silver is lightweight and I think it might lose it's shape if pressure was put on it, which is why I gave it 3 stars. If the band had substantial silver weight, it would be a 5-star ring. That being said, it is pretty I plan on keeping it and hope it holds up working around horses.

Wide Enough
Very comfortable and wide without being too wide. The stone is really nice and if I were to eyeball it, I would guess around a carat and wish rings also included a photo on a finger and the stones were in carats not millimeters so it was more clear what we were thinking about purchasing.I did order a size up, a bit loose, but it would have been too small otherwise. If the stone is bezel set right, I will have this ring for a long time.UPDATE: If you have any issues, this seller deserves 5 stars!
