Animation: From Script to Screen

Mr. Culhane's book is a must and has been for a while on the shelves of most of the past and presents animators and students. He is one of the only ones that has taken the time to express what it takes if one cannot garner experience, connections, and a portfolio through traditional schooling. It is highly recommended, but anything is possible! He goes through a briefing of the entire process, and this is probably one of the great touches of script writing that is available from an artist.

Great insight to animation pipeline of the days passed, still this has core concepts still used today.

It's a little beat up, but I knew that the book was used anyways, so I wasn't disappointed. When it comes to books, the most important thing is what you learn from the book. And this book is really great (a little dated, but the concepts still apply) and has a lot of information.

Loved it...!!! A very informative book.

Excellent book for a beginning animator. He presents the trials of animation as a profession and the dedication necessary to create animation that is layered, stylish, and believeable. It's not so much a step by step, technical book, as an inspirational guide book for aspiring studio animators possibly working as PAs or independently, trying to break into the studio system.

This book is a must for anyone who wants to be serious about animaton. It covers in tiny details every possible step for a movie, be it a full feature or a 30 seconds advertising. Even tho it was written before the "digital revolution", its advice still matters a lot. Strongly recommended.

I'm a digital artist and 3D animator, so I bought it to gain a bit of knowledge on traditional techniques, and this is what is all about, thought to me it could be better if the theory was covered more in depth. On the practical side a must.

This book tells you everything you need to know about animation business and techniques and EVERYTHING. It has wonderful excercises and if you want to be in this business, you MUST not only read it, but have it on your bookshelf for good. BUY IT!
