Great Prenatal
I just completed the entire bottle of prenatal so I feel ready to review them! (I’m currently 39 weeks pregnant) I have a very sensitive stomach and when taking these I didn’t have any issues with stomach upset, digestive changes or nausea. I’m not a huge fan of how expensive they are but most prenatal vitamins are expensive so I bit the bullet due to the clean ingredients. I got the citrus flavor and they taste/smell like lemon which I liked. If you take them WHEN you’re eating or directly after you can avoid the fishy burps, BUT if you take them too long after you ate the burps are vile. It’s a fishy- musty taste that is disgusting. The only thing that has me in limbo about purchasing again is the color change. I did not have anything super drastic like I see in the other reviews but they do darken over time. It says not to store them in direct sunlight, which I did not but over the month they did darken a bit. I’m pretty curious as to why that happens. Besides that I am very happy with these vitamins. UPDATING: so I’ve been taking these vitamins for quite some time. I am four months postpartum and I’m still taking them as I am nursing my son I tried the mint and it was not for me, but I stick with the citrus and I have to say I love it. My stomach is no longer as sensitive as it was when I was pregnant, so I haven’t had one fishy burp or issue since I was pregnant. However, I do always take the vitamins after eating. I can honestly say that I have much better energy during the day when I take them and I do feel like they keep me regular. It’s definitely a staple and now I have them on recurring orders monthly. If you’re thinking about it I say you should give it a try!

Wish I would’ve gotten these sooner!
When I first found out I was pregnant I purchased the brand Needed (both powder & pill form) and accidentally ordered the 3 month subscription from their website. I grew impatient with their shipping delay so I purchased the pill form from Amazon. I was confident they would work for me after a friend suggested them. The first two weeks I felt fine but then my body started to reject them. The smell made me gag (it smelled like rotten protein powder) and swallowing both forms was impossible to keep down. I tried taking them at night but quit taking them for good because it was doing more bad than good since I was only nauseous when it came to this prenatal. Frustrated that I had already spent $200+ on prenatals I quit taking them and decided to focus on quality of food because I thought all prenatals would be that unbearable. Another friend recommended these prenatals after hearing I had quit taking Needed. I did not want to waste anymore money but I decided to give these a shot just in case. I ordered the citrus and they were perfect! I love that they smell like citrus instead of vitamins, I did not realize they taste like citrus too but that is such an added benefit. They went down super easily! I wish I would’ve gotten these sooner! I did read reviews of people having fish burps when they take this product so I just chose to take them at night time and have had no issues. So thankful for this product!!!

This is THE pill! Just try it!
I did a decent amount of research before selecting a prenatal regimen, so I’m going to write the review I wish I’d found during my search, but the bottom line is: this is THE prenatal…just give it a try! I wanted to minimize how many other pills I’d need to supplement with, didn’t want pills that were too big, wanted the right kind of folate, no extra vitamin A as retinol, meaningful amount of DHA, not too daunting of a regimen, needed gluten free, and while I’m willing to pay more than some drug store brands, I wasn’t willing to pay over $80/month. This was the only pill combo (Ritual Essential Prenatal Multivitamin + Ritual Natal Choline) that fit the bill for me! I have low Vitamin D so I do supplement the Ritual regimen with an extra 2000IU of Vitamin D, but if your levels are pretty normal, Ritual already includes that amount. I also take a Vitamin C gummy since I have low levels and magnesium glycinate to promote relaxation before bed, however most people probably won’t need to (or even want to) supplement the Ritual regimen—I honestly wouldn’t if I didn’t have low Vitamin C/D. The pill size is on the larger size for me but very much a normal capsule size, similar to a 500mg Vitamin C capsules I’ve taken without issue. It’s counterintuitive, but if you pop a capsule, take a sip of water, and tilt your head forward (instead of back) with your chin to your your neck and swallow, it’s way easier to swallow a capsule without it ever getting stuck! The prenatal and the choline supplement are each 2 pills. Some may only need the multivitamin, but I’m not confident I get enough choline for these purposes, so opted to add that one as well. At first it seems like a lot if you’re used to taking 1 or none per day, but it’s really not too daunting. I love that they can be taken day or night, with or without food. While it seems minor, I see a major benefit to that for people who may have food aversions or nausea. For me, it’s helped bec for the first couple days I took the pills during the day and I did notice after some time I’d have a burp or two that had a slightly fishy aftertaste (but still totally bearable). Switched to taking all supplements just before bed and voilà—no burp risk at all! As for the taste/smell, these pills have a LOVELY lemon essence! While I love it, I can see where someone with nausea or sensitivity to smell may have a tougher time. However, there is a little essence tab in each bottle and I suspect you could just toss that out when getting the bottle and leave the top off for a couple hours so the smell/taste doesn’t intensify and wears off a little. On cost, it’s definitely not the cheapest, but I couldn’t find cheaper options by the time I pieced together everything I wanted from a prenatal. Lots of drug store options have folic acid which not everyone can absorb, and I’d rather not find out the hard way that I’m one of those people! Lots of other pills also don’t have a meaningful amount of DHA, don’t include iron, or don’t add other vitamins I’d expect to get from a multi, like Vitamin D, E, and biotin so when adding up all those separate supplements it became more expensive than it seemed at a glance. Other premium prenatals were higher cost, had too many reviews mentioning bad taste/burp back, and involved even more pills—some required a morning AND evening regimen. Ritual strikes the perfect balance, for me, especially if you want both the multi + choline and are able to purchase the combo pack, which was a bit discounted when I purchased compared to purchasing each bottle separately. Finally, I love that when I asked my doctor if this was OK to take, they said it was a good choice. Plus this combo is intended to support both prenatal and pregnancy, so I don’t have to worry about finding a new regimen during pregnancy. I then plan to stay with Ritual for postnatals or their regular women’s multivitamin.

I thought they were great
Edit: unfortunately I stopped taking them! They actually started to cause me more nausea than not taking them and they gave me diarrhea all throughout the day. I will say that as of now, taking these for two weeks i like them! I have not experienced bad morning sickness and this is my 5th pregnancy and I've ALWAYS had morning sickness! Now if I don't take them I start to feel crazy so then I'll go ahead and pop two in! They DO NOT constipate me and that is a PLUS!! I had bowel issues for 5 years now since my last kid but I swear since being pregnant and taking these I go EVERYDAY it's crazy to say that I love that but oh well I do! Ummm they are a little weird to swallow for me but that may just be me and they do give you a little lemon burst that comes up when you burp lol not bad at all! Overall they are PRICEY never thought I'd pay that for some damn vitamins and I'm hoping fingers crossed that they are doing what they are supposed to do for my baby but as far as me I'm pretty happy so far!!! And they are the only ones with REAL FOLIC ACID(so they say) but doing my research most of the others have a genetic orrrrr false type, I can't think of the word for it but these ingredients are supposed to be the real deal!!! Now if my baby comes out with a tail or three arms then we may have a problem lol but no really so far so good I promise!

Great Vitamin for MTHFR Deficiency
I was told that with this pregnancy that I have the MTHFR and protein S deficiency and that I had to take a special kind of prenatal, which stunk because I had just purchased a bunch of high quality prenatals off amazon that I can’t use. I was told by my OB to look for a prenatal with methyltetrahydrafolate. This ended up being a difficult task. I could hardly find anything but did eventually find the ritual brand. I was impressed with the clear capsules with the liquid contents where you could see the ingredients. The pill size was also tolerable as I was taking a prenatal previously that was like a horse pill. I also liked the idea of the pill flavoring as supplements can taste awful. I bought the citrus flavor and it didn’t leave any sort of an aftertaste. One thing I wasn’t crazy about was the price as $43 is pretty steep for once a month. I ended up getting the subscription and saving 15% and then I bought a bunch of bottles during cyber week for about $23 to hold me over for the duration of my pregnancy. They also make a postnatal, which from my understanding with the MTHFR gene I will need to take this form of folate for the rest of my life. I don’t recognize if I have any changes as to energy but I am in my last trimester so everything for me is low energy and I’m always tired. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. This is great for pregnant women/new moms like me that can’t process folic acid normally and need this other form. ***UPDATE*** I just wanted to update that I am still on this prenatal. It’s been almost 6 months that I’ve been on it and I continue to like taking it. Two capsules a day at night and nothing ever comes back up with an after taste. There’s nothing negative to report. I still recommend this brand and have bottles of the post natal lined up to take after the baby is born. ****Final Update**** I had the baby and switched over to the postnatal. At the moment the postnatal only comes in a mint flavor as the citrus is unavailable. I can’t say it’s my favorite flavor for a pill but the taste is pretty brief. I suggest this as a post step after birth for any ladies that need a good, comprehensive postnatal, which I have heard we all need for ourselves and for the babies (if you’re breast feeding).
