I use an A-440Hz tuning fork for tuning my guitars, but a number of my other fretted instruments are more centered around "G" strings and tunings: banjo; charango; tres; cuatro; tiple; etc. For various reasons, electronic tuners don't work well with some of these instruments, and I'm well used to tuning by ear, so I wanted a "G" fork to facilitate tuning.Anyone who goes looking for a fork at this pitch will quickly find that it's a bit of a challenge to locate one. A-440 forks are ubiquitous; E-329.6Hz is fairly common (used for guitar and mandolin); and even C-261.6Hz may be easily had (piano tuners sometimes use these). But G forks are rare animals. I found this one available from a muisc store in the UK.This tuning fork is pitched to the equal-tempered "G" one whole step below A-440 (the G above Middle C), and is perfect for my application. It is a very high quality tuning fork, which makes the common "A" forks look like toys by comparison. Made of polished, blued steel, the pitch accuracy was dead-on (as checked by my strobe tuner). The price is a little higher than the more common forks, but the quality, accuracy, and durability make it well worth it.I would also note that shipping from the vendor was super-fast. I live in Oregon; this item came from England, more than 5000 miles away, and I had it in less than a week. In fact it was the first item to arrive of several I ordered on the same day, some from as close as California, a mere 400 miles away.Overall, very satisfied.
