My reason for only four stars was because it was not clear to me that the red security tab had to be pushed down rather than, as I had imagined, allowed to protrude through one of the openings on the back plate. Had I examined the device when I took it out of the box, I would have realised that the red tab was hidden.When I managed to figure it out and had inserted the battery (provided), I was impressed to see a red blinking light and a good sized test button. Unfortunately, because this detector is smaller than my original, I could not utilise the existing screw holes. That problem was avoided by using magnitised discs also purchased at the same time.

Just the job.
Arrived quickly. Just the job. Easy to fit...clear instructions. Hope it will do what it's supposed to...but hopefully it won't be needed!!

Wanted an alarm that could be hushed.
Old alarm used to go off every time we had a fry up. Flapping at it with a newspaper was a nuisance. Food went cold! Hasn't been tested in situ yet but hopefully the hush button will cut it off until the atmosphere has cleared. Good price. Prompt delivery. Bonus it fitted the existing back plate.

A good alarm
A very good smoke alarm at a reasonable price. I was surprised that I did have to change the battery after just a few months, but hopefully this next battery will last longer. PS One month later and it was going off in the middle of the night - the battery has gone again.

Seems okay. 2 out of 3 worked
Bought 3 of these, for some reason the third one kept going off every few hours. We figured out it must be faulty, but the other 2 that were installed seem to be working just fine. I installed them myself which was relitivly easy with a drill. Good value for money.
