Compact, light and powerful with great batteries! (But is one issue)
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS SAW: (1) This saw is light weight, compact, gets into small places and is easy to carry around. (2) It has great power if you're using it for the correct applications. If you're wanting to cut through sheet metal, residential and light commercial fencing, 1/4" rebar, metal roof panels, etc., then this will be a great saw for you! It's a powerful saw for its size. (3) It's well built and durable. This is a solid saw and I'm confident it's going to last for a very long time. (4) The metal shavings box/chip box is fantastic! It catches most of the shavings and is easy to empty. (5) Power mode selector buttons. I can't think of an instance where I would need to go to a lower power, but that option is there for those who might need it. (6) The price point on this little saw is very good, considering that you get two of the new style 4.0ah Multivolt batteries, a charger and a case with it. (7) Ergonomics. Overall the ergonomics are good and the saw is very comfortable.WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THIS SAW: (1) It's is very difficult to get good line of site. I've moved my head up and down and all around. I have changed from my right hand to my left hand (which is not very safe with a metal cutting saw), but nothing is satisfactory. It's nearly impossible to see where the blade meets the material. What about making the blade guard clear at the cutline on the next generation? This isn't a deal breaker for me, but it could be for many people. This is the same issue I have with the Metabo-HPT 6 1/2", blade right circular saw. (2) The LED lights are a nice feature, but poorly executed. They generally light up the area, but they don't light up the cut area very well.CONCLUSION: I would recommend this saw overall, but you really need to consider the two negatives. If you think these two negatives are going to be an issue for you, then maybe you should look elsewhere. I do think it's worth giving it a try though. I'm very glad to have mine and I know I'll be using it for years to come. Maybe I'll even figure out a way to get a better line of site.ABOUT THE BATTERIES IN THIS KIT: The batteries in this kit are fantastic! The build quality is great and the rubber overmold is fantastic! I'd like to have about 6 more of them.NOTE TO METABOHPT: I think that you should consider selling this tool as a bare tool. The kit is a very nice option, but I think most people will be adding this to their tool line-up and not buying it as a stand alone. Just a thought.
