Universal Beauty: The Miss Universe Guide to Beauty

I hate to say this since I try my very best to have a positive outlook in life and give everyone the benefit of the doubt....however this was hardly worth the $4 I spent on it. I have competed in a few local pageants, and I guess I was looking for some new information and beauty tips from a book bearing the Miss Universe name (I mean, how much higher in the beauty world can you get than being the most beautiful woman in the universe??? Surely these people must know something that the rest of us don't??).I was able to finish going through this book in approximately 3 minutes and during those 3 minutes determined that there was nothing in here for me to learn. For a book with "guide to beauty" in the title, I found this to be more of a photo album across the ages than a "guide". There are a few beautiful photos of former title holders....which I may be able to take to my stylist to have her emulate....but if I end up looking anything like these women at any point, it won't be because of any tips in this book.

You'll love it! If you were in the Miss USA pageant, Miss Teen USA, Miss Universe you will love this book... Especially if you're a winner. Since it's one big celebration of these pageants or any pageant by Donald Trump complete with him giving a bragging opening ''foreward'', pictures of all the girls, them on the back giving fab reviews for it and talking all about themselves in it with only minor beauty information. Stuff everyone basically already knows- but if you want a guide with some beauty pageant contestants/winners this is it... Other than that don't expect too much.

While there was SOME useful information in this book, I found it seriously lacking. There is a lot of useless information in here about the girls, pageants, etc and not as many tips and tricks as I had hoped for.

It's a nice book that gives general advice on pageant matters. I wish they provided more interview tips so that pageant girls will know how to go about an interview.

I found this book to be excellent.There were alot of good beauty tips,and I thought they were very truthful.Reading about the girls who won since 1952 was interesting.

Miss Universeって忙しいのにどうやって美を保てるのかなと思っていました。この本ではMiss Universe competitionで使われているお勧めの化粧品やhow toも載せてくれており勉強になりました。私は英語がそこそこできるのでなんとか読めましたが、日本語があったほうがもっと理解しやすかったと思います。

Miss Universe Org.がおくるビューティー本です。表紙はミス・ユニバース２００３のアメリア・ベガ（ドミニカ共和国、当時１８歳）が、なぜかミス・ティーンＵＳＡのミキモト製王冠をかぶっています。ヘアケア、メイクアップからハイヒールでの歩き方、ムダ毛処理、ダンベル体操、歯のケア、ティーン向けの美容に至るまで、幅広い内容です。本書の特徴は、「ユニバーサル・ビューティー」の表題通り、様々な人種を視野に入れた編集になっていること。例えば髪の毛についても、アジアンヘア、ラテン系のヘア、細いブロンドヘア、アフリカ系のヘア、と別々に指南。身長や顔の形それぞれにあったヘアスタイルや洋服のスタイルも紹介されており、ミス・ユニバースの本とはいっても、別にミスのような女性だけではなく、人種、年齢や体型を問わずあらゆる女性にとって利用できる本です。さらに貴重なのは、歴代のミス・ユニバースタイトル保持者及び２００５タイ大会を中心に各国候補者の写真が随所に使われている点。昔から今に至るミスたちの写真を書籍媒体で見ることのできる稀有な本です。かつてのミスたちの言葉（美容や食事のこと、優勝時の思い出など）も見ることができます。本文の英語は、美容に関する単語など学校で習わないような物も多いので、意外と読みずらい部分もあるかもしれません。

当たり前だけど、全文英語なんだよね。英語わからない私には、本の良さが半減。日本語訳あれば最高だったのにな。写真沢山だから、まずまず楽しめますが、英語わからない方には、あまりおすすめできないですね(>д<)でも、美女ばかりで、美意識は高まると思います。

私にとって美について最高の本です！歴代のミスユニバース、歴代のミスティーンUSA、化粧の仕方、体の作り方、ヘアースタイル、ミスたちの言葉、など、役立つことがたくさん載っていて、とてもすてきな本です！そして写真が多いのも嬉しいです。思ってた以上に詳しく書かれてて、内容もみっちり詰まっています。
