Good deal on a quality boys axe
Just arrived today and very happy with it. Has the size of a typical boys axe, but I like this one better than others because it has a 2 1/2 lb head, where most boys axe have 2 1/4 lb head. The extra 1/4 pound is noticeable and feels significantly more powerful. Great looking premium axe, and feels good in the hand. The palm swell is the best of all my axes, it fits my hands perfect. Sharpened very well, and no doubt the Germans make good steel. The handle fit to the head on mine is not perfect, there is a small gap at the narrowest portion...so as long as it doesn't come loose, I will still give it 5 stars. At this price there understandably isn't a leather guard...does come with a rubber edge guard. So far, I would recommend this axe to anybody looking for a premium boys axe without the $200 price tag.

LOOK AROUND FOR BETTER
So-so. Gap between head and handle. Paint/finish on the butt (back) looks like it dripped and was passed by QA to meet a quota. Didn't expect it to be perfectly sharp but required more time than should be necessary to be useful. I work for a German company in the US. Quality drives our manufacturing because what we make is sold at a premium price. Figured it should be the same for this German company, too. Guess not. Have two Husqvarna axes; this was intended to fit between the sizes I have. It does but I regret buying it. For about the same money I could (and should) have stayed with a better quality tool. This axe will go in the toolbox on the truck as an expendable piece of gear. Do yourself a favor - look at the Husky axes before you buy this one. BTW, my chainsaws (I have three) are all Stihl, but Husky gets the love for axes.

Light Work Helko Forester
This is the light forester. I was looking for a head between 2.25 and 3.5 in this style. I wanted a slightly longer handle but this head on the 28 is really nice. The wedge is ugly and not sanded down smooth but the hang is good and tight and the rest of the axe finish is excellent. This fits the bill for me. Can chop and also do some splitting work. The edge was good, but I touched it up. It had no problem blowing through pine, beech, and crape myrtle rounds. Can control it easily.
