As of 2018-09-07, these drives no longer come with a Hitachi 5-year warranty. According to the seller, they now have a 3-year warranty offered directly from the reseller (ServerPartDeals).

Q: What is the difference between se and ise? i want to make sure i get the right one for my desktop media center.

se = "Secure Erase" manual bit level erasure, ise = "Instant Secure Erase" generates new encryption key so old data can't be accessed effective erasure, all data encrypted hardware level

I don't know. It might be nothing more than yours has newer microcode, or super-duper spindle grease. :)Seriously, though, the drives have been fine. I use mine for backups and haven't had any trouble for the several months that I've had them.
