FiiOFT5 90mm Open Planar Magnetic Headphones

After reading various reviews, my expectations were significantly high. At first, all good, excellent delivery process from Amazon and impressive packaging of FIIO in a black box and “leather” box. But once the FIIO FT5 was out of the box, things went sideways. At this price range, you expect headphones to be at least comfortable, but with the FIIO FT5 impossible to find just a basic stable position on my head or the head of anyone who tried them. Tried the two sets of pads, same issues. I made some basic sound quality tests with various sources, from basic streaming apps up to high-end FLAC with two different DAC/Headphones amplifiers. The results are not as expected, with an overall cold “metallic” sound. The worst part is the voice loosing all human tone. Furthermore, FIIO is using a very annoying statement everywhere from the website up to the actual documentation about taking no responsibility for whatever information/picture they are providing. Specification(s) or/and design can change at any time. At the end, you don't know what you have bought. I decided to send them back and request a refund.

I was initially hesitant to buy these headphones in a world where every recommendation for sub-$500 headphones is usually a pair of Hifiman or Sennheisers, with everything else feeling a bit drowned out. FiiO is newer to the game for headphones, but I really think these really hit in a great spot.The included case and accessories make it these feel like a very premium package. The headphones themselves feel incredibly solid. The cable is nice and comes with just about any termination you could need for your setup. These are not light headphones, but they sit very securely and comfortably on my head, so I don't feel fatigued by their weight.As for sound, these definitely hit the perfect spot for me. A warm but clear sound. The highs are present but don't fatigue me during long listening periods. These are very comfortable both to wear and listen to.At the end of the day headphones are really about subjective experiences, you can never really know how they will sound to you compared to another person. I find the FiiO FT5 to be well worth it, and I'm glad I gave them a chance.

I got these at a good price ($599.00), and thought I would check them out.I love the look, the feel and the heft of them.The sound is very nice with solid bass. The mids are also pretty good and treble is not bright.Very happy overall and will likely be keeping them. I tend to buy, use and resell headphones pretty regularly will stay in the collection.Also, not hard to drive, which is nice for a set of planar's.
