WAY better than Polyurethane and No Fumes
I’m a novice woodworker at best, working out of an attached garage that doubles as my shop. Anytime I used stain or oil-based polyurethane, my family would immediately start complaining—the fumes always found their way into the house. This time, I decided to try Rubio Monocoat for the first time on a 9-foot desk I built for my office. I applied two coats, and let me tell you—virtually no smell. Maybe a light scent in the immediate area, but it was more like carnauba wax than chemicals. Most importantly, no complaints from the family.Application was super simple. I just used my DeWalt orbital sander to buff it into the surface, and it turned out great. I love how you can still feel the wood grain—that’s something you just don’t get with polyurethane, which basically covers your project in plastic. The look was amazing too. I went with "Pure," and it did not disappoint. The finish came out pretty natural but with a slightly wet look. See for yourself. The only real downside? The wait. You’ve got to let it cure for about a week before using the piece, and that was easily the hardest part.If I have any issues with this finish I'll come back to report but so far it's been a few weeks and I LOVE it.

I Love Rubio
I used this Rubio Monocoat - Smoke 5% for a custom made white oak porch door. It gave the exact look we were going for. Not quite a full whitewash feel but kept the light tone of the wood present.I love working with Rubio. It has such a pleasant smell and when buffed off, leaves a nice, satin finish. It may not be fully recommended for outside use but this door is covered by an overhang so should see minimal moisture, except for the occasional blowing rain.

Easy to use
Built shelves for my craft room and used the Rubio oil to finish them. Easy to use. There was a smell for awhile but it did dissipate. Shelves look nice.

Ease of application
I did a butcher block countertop with Rubio Monocoat turned out wonderful. Rubio was easy to work with, but on the Rubio Monocoat website, the instructions were hard to find, and there were none packaged with the product.

definitely wont cover 65sq ft!!
I recently finished a 108" x 38" (or 28.5 sq ft) black walnut dining-room table. I milled the boards out of slabs, so this was truly raw wood. After prepping the surface, I mixed and applied the Rubio 2C as instructed (and per the several YouTube tutorials I watched), being carefull to spread it as thinly as possible. It just barely sufficed to cover the 28.5 sq ft, let alone going to 65!!! Got the job done, but disappointing to have such a highly rated (and expensive) product be so misleading. Live and learn. JC

Oil is not just for massages!
The Rubio Monocoat oil left our black walnut mantle looking more gorgeous than seeing a rainbow after a storm! The colors of the wood beautifully shine through and the instructions were easy to follow. We know our mantle will hang our stockings in perfection for the rest of time! And we got a cool t-shirt too!
