I used these to lift a 5.7 Hemi from a 2013 Ram 1500. I used only 2x brackets, bolted them onto the cylinder heads using 1" Grade 10 bolts to allow them to swivel a bit. I easily clipped the carabiners onto the brackets and was able to fasten a 3 ft span of chain between them. The angle of the brackets, combined with the easy to use carabiners, allowed me to pull the engine and manipulate it onto a dolly without having to remove the intake manifold or any other commonly removed accessories. Once I had the engine lifted by the hoist. When I reinstalled the motor, I tightened the brackets to make sure they would be ready to go in the future. Absolutely love them! I'm looking forward to using these to help manipulate transmissions and rear differentials in my shop. The carabiner safety gate is a breeze to screw shut with one hand and the polished surface cleans up readily and always looks great. This is a very well thought out product with an incredible weight capacity that will safely work on all engines from small air cooled 4 cylinders to monster big blocks. The brackets are attractive and I am leaving them on the engine for future maintenance tasks. I am going to mount the 2x extra brackets on the wall studs in the corner of my shop and hang a hammock from them for some post-wrenching relaxing!
