Stop buying Computer HW and Electronic from Amazon, as Amazon's does take fault reporting
Worst product supplied by the supplier. Could be even manufacturing defect from the manufacturer. The kind of hype in description of products and its feature looks like fake propoganda done by the company and reseller. I suggest just stop from buying this hard disk. Purple supposed to be for cctv streaming for longer life and consistency for which company charged me premium and now within 1 year its gone faulty.Moreover i suggest stop buying these kind of hardware items or electronics from Amazon as Amazon is only trader like old school and dont expect any support from Amazon, they just point by saying please contact the brand for any faulty reporting and bye bye. Now you get along with brand for any resolution. You are left to mercy of brand. If Amazon cant support after sales then why are they selling these products in 1st place, no professional Amazon after sales.

HDD failed in 8 days
I had bought this 4TB hard disk in Jun 2024. But installed it in my HIKVISION 16 channel DVR in Aug 2025. 10 cameras are connected to the DVR and all were on continuous recording mode. The hard disk worked fine for 8 days. But it stopped working all of a sudden the 9th day, saying Hard Disk exception. Formatted the hard disk several times, but looks like the HDD has failed and not recoverable. I'm feeling cheated. Such an expensive HDD worked only for 8 days.

Doesn't work with my hik vision nvr
I tried 2 HDD from WD ( second was replacement piece). Not working with DS 7616nxi-k2..500 gb of other HDD works.I don't know how 2 successive WD HDD could fail.

Corrupted within just 6 months of use
My WD Purple CCTV hard drive got corrupted within just 6 months of use. It has completely stopped working—it is not storing any new recordings and is also not showing or accessing any of the previously recorded data/files.I would like to visit the service center to get the hard drive inspected and replaced under warranty.

Only plastic cover packaging. Only worked for 2 days
A hard disk is a valuable and fragile item, but it was packed in a simple plastic cover without proper protection. The drive started making squeaky noises and completely stopped working within two days.

Too soon to give it a detailed review
I got a chance to install this into my rln8-410 today, format and fire up the nvr. Little did I know that I’m only at 5.508tb after formatting.The drive or whisper quiet just like the stock Toshiba drive on it.It is much more responsive than the stock drive and maybe it’s because the drive is more optimized for nvr? As of now, I’ve got no complaints.Edit 6/14/26: After multiple days of it being use as a continuous read and write drive, I’ve come to enjoy this drive more than the stock drive. The nvr system just responds noticeably faster and I’ve yet to have any problems.

Poor Handling by Amazon Delivery
Came as defective, the HDD can't be started. It is either defect from factory, but likely mishandling by Amazon. The packing came ok-ish but with a lot of deformations.
