Good product but has some quirks
There are several features I like about it: 1 it shows multiple items: clock, voltage and most of all tach. The Tach is a rough guess - do not rely on it as you would a typical tachometer signaled from the distributor. However it does a pretty good job. Instructions are a little light on the stroke settings: 1p1r means 1 pulse per revolution (typical for 2 stroke engines and 1 or 2 cylinder 4-stroke engines) 1p2r means 1 pulse per 2 revolutions (for 4 cylinder 4 stroke engines). For my installation, by setting correctly, the tach reads correctly at low RPMs, however >1800, it read incorrectly. So, i reverted to the 1p1r and 1p2r settings which worked correctly over the primary operating range i was interested in. I found the long lengths of wires provided especially helpful since I didn't have to splice in extra wiring.I did find (and the instructions say) that the unit is susceptible to interference. Yep, they were right. I don't have HID lights (or any lights at all) on my mower, but apparently it is electrically noisy enough to cause the unit to reset. Take a trip to your local ElectroMagnetic Compliance (EMC) laboratory and they can supply you with a few ideas on fixes. likely a few snap-on ferrites might help or changing the routing on the cable harness. You may have to disconnect the vehicle battery terminals and see if that doesn't help. Anyway, i was disappointed with that becuase when it resets, the clock time goes back to 12:00 - which was one of my top selling features.Regarding vehicle battery leads: the instructions say the unit is battery powered via a CR2450 coin cell. But there are vehicle power leads provided. Apparently this is only for the battery voltage function in the display. Plan on replacing batteries often. I was also disappointed with that; I was hoping that the vehicle leads to minimize the draw on the internal battery - that the internal battery was for memory only when connected to vehicle. I was wrong. It is still a battery powered device, but with vehicle voltage sense leads.

Great info for the size and price
The RPM and Battery voltage meter on this device is the reason I got it and it has functioned as expected. Needs modification but works
I needed this to put a tach on my 2000 monster 750 for tuning. It’s not a bad unit but the directions are wrong as usual for unit China. It talks about brown wires, which it has none at all. I followed the directions and like another review said the backlight always stays on. I found that if you reverse the green and red wires the backlight works with the key like I think it should.The manual doesn’t list the cylinder setup modes st all. Just cryptic p2r1 etc. I found p2r1 worked for my 4 stroke 2 cyl bike which displayed a 900-1000 rpm idle which is about right. But it took a lot of trial and error.The clock only runs in 24 hour mode. No 12 hour mode so that will take some getting used to.Otherwise it’s not bad a bad unit for the price, but the wiring and instructions are wrong.

Replaceable battery and easy to install.
So far so good. The only issue I have had with it in the backlight stays on with no way to turn it off which, makes me concerned with battery drainage. I really like the fact this unit has a replaceable battery unlike the tiny tach piece of hot garbage it replaced. All the readings seem pretty accurate. I bought this to use on a sawmill. It is mounted to the engine cover and despite all the vibrations it works perfectly. It comes with more than enough wire to hook it up and if you READ and FOLLOW the instructions it will work for you to. If the backlight drains the internal or external battery I will do a follow up review.

Works / Set-up Confusing at Best...
The unit works, was easy to install but the set-up and operation is difficult to understand. This is most likely a language issue, but needs adressed. The set-up for engine (manual says STROKE) is not easy to figure out. There are only 2 stroke types yet MANY cylinder configurations within each. NOT sure that I have this right although based on RPM's I can assume I have it right. Publish something here or somewhere for clarification please. Also a 12-24 clock would be great.

this unit is awesome. my problem was that it did not work with my motor a 2006 75 hp fourstroke mercury. you need an induction cable from your start coil to a sparkplug to induce the signal into the signal wire, which newer motors do not use. all electronic.

Seems ok so far. Install instructions are in broken English so a little hard to follow. I had to modify the battery compartment by bending out the contacts in order for the battery to fit.
