Excellent smoky tea
I have been told that Lapsang Souchong tea is a developed taste, mostly by people who havenโt developed it. It has been described as tasting too smoky, or like gunpowder. [Iโve never tasted gunpowder, so I canโt say.] Hu Kwa tea is some of the best Lapsang tea that Iโve had. The brand has been imported by the Mark T. Wendell Tea Company for over a centuryโ it was originally grown only in Chinaโs Fukien province, but is now grown on the island of Formosa (Taiwan). Itโs coppery-red in color, and less harsh than other Lapsang Souchongs that I have had in the past. Recommended.

Smoky and elegant
The smoked flavor of this tea is really my favorite. After 6 months traveling in Asia, this was my favorite among all the possibilities. Even for mixology, this tea with gin is a work of art!

Best Lapsang Souchong available.
Hu Kwa Lapsang Souchong is now my favorite of the few brands available. Deep, rich, intense, piney aroma coupled with its inherent smoky nature makes for a superior tea. If you like Lapsong Souchong, you may find this variety the best and most aromatic available. Very highly recommended!

Easily the best lapsang souchong I've tried.
I like lapsang souchong, but it is hard to find in the US, especially in bag form. This is by far the best I've found - a clear robust taste and smell. It's my standard now, I reorder it regularly.

Best Lapsang Souchong Iโve found
This is really good tea. Rich, interesting, and not bitter. Just the right amount of smokiness. A good Lapsang Souchong is hard to find, but for me this is it.

This tastes like bacon/bbq sauce
This tastes like bacon/bbq sauce. Great if you like that flavor, but not what I'd like in a tea. Also, the strength of the aroma even outside the packaging gave me a headache.

Teabags are useful when you don't have time to brew fresh tea leaves.
Hu-Kwa is a brand name for a variety of Lapsang Souchong, a smoky tea, from China, the perfect afternoon tea.
