Mr Johnstone could write one helluva book and this one is definitely a great one!! Great story and some history to go with it

Great action-packed story about a pioneer family and their legendary patriarch. I enjoyed the historical references of the old West and the expansion of the United States westward. A great read. I've become a huge fan of William W. Johnstone.

How people lived in the new west was interesting. Fighting for their rights just ad we do today. This book is a good read and you don't want to put it down. Enjoy the read.

Followers of William W. Johnstone will recognize many of the beloved characters in this story including Preacher, Jamie Ian McAllister, Audie and Lobo, plus many more. Jamie and his wife, along with friends of several nationalities and skin colors, settle in a beautiful Colorado valley to raise their big family. Of course, bad guys, bears, and Indians all have to be dealt with and peace is hard won. This is the first time I recall this author dealing with the issue of homosexuality as one of the many sub-themes and vignettes. It’s well done and does not overwhelm the other themes of the book. This is one of Johnstone’s best books and I hated to see its conclusion.

Excellent story! Covers the period from Jamie's early life as a boy through his mountain man days as a trapper, raising his family, and up to the Civil War. Very descriptive, full of action and historical. I would highly recommend it!

I just finished “Dreams of Eagles.” It was difficult to put the Kindle down sometimes after midnight and later in the morning. William W Johnstone did a masterful piece of work with this story of the West as he follows in the footsteps of Zane Gray who, I think set a high bar for the writers of those times of our history. The Johnstones do a masterful Level of writing that equals or exceeds the height, or raises it, for those who have or will write captivating adventure stories along these same lines.

This book is the beginning of the great story of the eagles family and their life of living and settlements of the beginning of the west movement to open up the country.m

As a fan of Louis L'Amour, I found myself reading this every chance I had. Lots of historical context, heroic actions, and vivid descriptions. Like Louis L'amour's westerns, this one ends with the good guys prevailing and the good girls getting their men.
