Exo Terra Dual Top UV Light & Basking Spot Canopy for Reptile Terrariums, PT2232

This Exo-Terra product is by far my favorite addition to my Chameleon's screen terrarium. First the overall quality and finish is outstanding, and it's function is perfect. It dissipates heat with a silent cooling fan to extend your bulbs lifespan and provides air circulation as well. It fits perfectly and mounts securely on top of any exo terra glass or screen terrarium as well as other brands like zoo-med or pen plax. The cord is long enough to reach the top of my 24" high enclosure which sits on top of a 36" high stand. The dual switches allows you to run only the florescent bulbs with no fan or the halogens with cooling fan operation. The downside is the price which is high, but I would gladly pay this for the all metal construction and no worries of melting as with plastic canopies. It is also fairly heavy so a sturdy base is needed to hold it's weight, some cheaper screen mesh enclosures might have a hard time supporting it. The last downside is that it will not mate with the exo terra light control caps so an external timer such as the zilla digital power strip, or zoo med's hygrotherm works excellent. Great product.

The canopy itself has a good design. Two tubes (for UVB) and one halogen (for heat) can be used in the 18" model. This was the only fixture I could find that would fit 15" linear bulbs, which was the only size that would work with my turtle's basking area. The fan is quiet and I really like the option of turning off each type of light separately. Aesthetically this canopy is downright awesome. I also purchased the thermometer that slides into the hood. It all looks very nice. I recommend getting the GU-10 base halogen bulbs from a hardware store though. They're better made and cheaper than the pet marketed halogen bulbs.

Bought two of these. Bought the special bulbs. One of the two had the halogen bulb stop working, so I bought another bulb. That too stopped after about one minute. Works fine in the other single bulb hood--so it's 100% a hood problem. I also have a double halogen version of the same hood. Both halogens won't work. Tried different bulbs. They too failed. I like the idea, I like their tanks. But the hoods are very poor quality. They need more testing and some QC. I'm about done with these super expensive Exo-Terra products. Zoo-Med hoods are 1/3 the price, take regular bulbs, and work perfectly on our Zoo-Med tank. Hate to say it, but I'm pretty disappointed.

I purchased this 36 inch light for my Exo-Terra Terrarium, and it looks great while lighting and heating my bearded dragon's habitat. Here's what I like about the product: 1. It fits perfectly on top of my Exo-Terra Terrarium. 2. It's a dual bulb system for both heating and lighting. 3. The heat lamps are recessed a bit so they shine in the cage, but don't protrude. 4. There's a built in fan to pull heat away from the electrical components. Here's what I don't like about the product: 1. It's a bit pricey. 2. Because of the two prong configuration of the heat lamps they are unique and hard to find. 3. The two prong configuration of the heat lamps make it a little tricky to get the lamps installed as you've got to line the prongs up with the slots and you can't see them because the lamp is in the way. 4. The final thing I don't care for, and this is sort of separate from the lighting canopy itself, is that the heat lamps only last for a couple of months before they go out. I've had my canopy for four months. I purchased four heat lamps when I got the canopy as I wanted to have two spares. I run the heat lamps 12 hours a day, and I just installed the last heat lamp and I'm reordering. Even with a couple of draw backs the lighting/heating canopy is still worth purchasing.

Very happy with this unit, it is Heavy, but very well made, and accomodates 3 lights, a UV, and a daylight tube as well as a Halogen in the midddle for the heat, for the enclosure, for my Electric Blue Day gecko, the combination of all 3 brings out the colors of my gecko and keeps him warm. Very good product. Note make sure you get the right tube lights for this, the 15in is the perfect size.

I am on my third hood in three weeks. The fluorescents work, sometimes, but the halogens don't. I will be returning.

The canopy works very well as a light fixture and I have no complaints about that, but the fans (which I absolutely NEED to keep on full-time for my species and setup) seem to be ill-fitted, often at random grinding against the housing and making an incredibly obnoxious and fairly loud buzzing noise. I have two of these and they both suffer from the same problem. Considering the price, I would expect better build quality, but exo-terra in general is developing a rather sketchy reputation with me at this point for what seem to be very easily avoidable quality problems across an array of their products. I can't exactly recommend this if you need the fan on and reliably quiet, but if you are looking for just a light canopy then I absolutely would, as I've never had a problem with that aspect of it.

Da ich mir diesmal ein Terrarium mit einer Höhe von 90 cm gekauft habe, schien mir das Dual Top mit seinen Halogen Halterung besser für die Ausleuchtung und Wärme geeignet als das Compact Top, welches ich bis zu einer Höhe von 60 cm einsetze. Das Dual Top 60 bietet Platz für zwei Halogen Spots mit E27 Gewinde und zwei Leuchtstoffröhren 15 Watt (wenn man die Exo Terra Leuchtstoffröhren nimmt). Warum habe ich mich für das Dual Top entschieden? Weil es keine Beleuchtung Marke Eigenbau ist, damit eine gewisse Ästhetik ausstrahlt und auch Halterung für die digitalen Thermo- und Hygrometer bietet. Entgegen der Compact Version (nur Plastik) ist das Dual Top oben auch mit Metall verkleidet. Leider ist die Lüftung der Halogenstrahler nicht zu überhören, wenn sonst Ruhe im Raum herrscht. Pro + ästhetische Ausstrahlung + kompakte Bauweise Contra - teuer - Lüfter der Halogenstrahler summt dauerhaft, wie ein kleiner Kühlschrank Fazit: Ich würde es für ein Exo Terra Terrarium mit 90 cm Höhe wieder kaufen, da es meine damit verbundenen Erwartungen erfüllt. Für Terrarien mit einer Höhe bis 60 cm würde ich die kostengünstigere Compact Top Variante empfehlen.

Trop cher, ancienne technologie d'éclairage, néon en T8 et halogènes en GU10 quasi introuvables et peu fiables, fins de stock pour les tubes ou conception et qualité des ampoules plus qu'aléatoire dès la réception certaines sont déjà cassé à l'intérieur au niveau des connections et capricieuses en durée de vie 1h à 4 mois, c'est bien pour cela que le dernier modèle ne part pas...

Ich bin super zufrieden, meine Drachenagamen leben auf (hatte das Terri mit schlechter Beleuchtung übernommen)! Der Lieferant TerraWelt.24 hat sogar bemerkt, dass ich zu grosse Leuchtstoffröhren bestellt habe und mich kontaktiert, um mir die richtige Grösse (14W) anzugeben und zu liefern. Super Service!! Gerade für mich sehr wichtig, da ich in der Schweiz wohne und mir somit eine Austauschsendungen ersparen konnte. Leider läuft das laute Gebläse auch ohne Halogenlampe. Dies habe ich Exo Terra (Hagen) mitgeteilt und die haben sofort für mich einen Testlauf bei sich gemacht. Es sollte wirklich nur bei Inbetriebnahme der Halogenlampe (in der Mitte) laufen. Ebenfalls super Service! Also stimmt bei meinem was nicht, aber das kriegen wir schon hin (nur deshalb einen Punkt Abzug). Würde es wieder bestellen.

Die erste Lieferung des Artikels hatte "schöne" Kratzer und Macken rechts auf dem Gehäuse und unten. Die zweite Lieferung (Ersatzlieferung) hatte sogar über das ganze Gehäuse verteilte große Kratzer und zudem war der innen liegende Reflektor sehr schlecht angepasst und stark wellig sowie lose. Es scheint, als würden diese Abdeckungen in China von sehr zittrigen Hilfskräften mit spitzen Schraubendrehern zusammen gehämmert. Da die Versandpackungen und Originalpackungen immer einwandfrei waren, liegt offensichtlich eine mangelhafte QS seitens des Herstellers Hagen bzw. "Exo-Terra" vor. Solange der Hersteller also nicht in der Lage ist, diesen Artikel in einem vernünftigen Zustand herzustellen, kann ich vom Kauf nur dringend abraten. Die Lieferung und der Umtausch wurden von Amazon wie immer perfekt erledigt.
