Review: Broke after a few uses in moderate wind - Looked very nice but broke after a trip out in moderate wind Edit: the customer service has been fantastic as they provided me with a refund and new umbrella. Have been assured I must have received a faulty product and have had good experience with Balios in the past so would recommend overall Review: Completely destroyed by light gust of wind - I was by no means expecting a masterpiece of craftsmanship and exemplary build quality for £12, but I was at least hoping it would last longer than a couple of uses in light drizzle. More like a fancy dress prop than an actual useable umbrella. This cheap tat is not fit for purpose, you’re better off saving the £12 cos if you buy this you’re going to get wet anyway…..

Good quality but bigger than expected
Great quality but not what I would consider compact. It’s also quite heavy

Stylish, Strong & Worth Every Penny!
This Balios umbrella is both beautiful and incredibly sturdy! The design is elegant, and the quality is top-notch—it holds up so well, even in strong winds. I first received one as a gift and loved it so much that I got another for myself. It’s not just an umbrella; it’s a statement piece. Highly recommend!

Disappointing quality considering the price
I purchased this umbrella six months ago, and it has been problematic from the start. The umbrella often fails to close properly, with several spokes not aligning correctly. This is particularly inconvenient in busy areas like train stations, where quick and efficient use is essential. Despite handling it with care, the umbrella's performance has deteriorated to the point where one of the spokes has completely broken off. I should also mention that it was not windy at all, so the breakage was not caused by adverse weather conditions. Given my careful treatment of the item and the high expectations I had for its quality, this is unacceptable. The umbrella does not meet the basic functional requirements of opening and closing reliably. Considering its price, the quality is subpar. In comparison, a much cheaper alternative has proven more durable. I would like to know if there is an option to return or exchange this umbrella, as its performance has been highly disappointing and does not justify the cost.

Good umbrella
Serves it purpose. Not sure if it's sturdy enough for wind though. But then not many umbrellas cope well with wind in general.

Compact umbrella
I really like this umbrella. First of all, the handle has a wooden effect which is really nice. I have also found the umbrella to be more durable than it first feels. I've used this on a rainy and blustery day and the umbrella survived well and didn't turn inside out or anything like that. That being said, the structure of the umbrella does feel a bit flimsy but as things stand it hasn't let me down yet. The only other comment I would make is that, although I like the look of the handle, I don't think it sits in my hand all that comfortably. I think the handle needs to be a bit bigger for my hands.

Poor quality & design
Rubbish product, the first time I used it the spokes got bent out of shape. Wasn’t even heavy rain or wind. Bit of shame as the handle looks nice but not fit for purpose. Returned to Amazon for refund. Would give zero stars if I had the option. Poor quality & design.

Compact quality
I think the compact size is great. Great for travel, or great for me to keep in a daily carry backpack when I go to work or elsewhere. I almost always have it handy. I think its well made. I like the color matched sheath, that comes off and goes on easy. I like the real wood handle and metal finish, and I chose the dark green. The manual is fine for the size and keeps it light and simple. I also have its big brother in black, double fold vented top, with the the full-auto button open, and semi-auto button closed. The sheath on that one is real snug though, and I wish for some sort of loop on the closed end with which to tug off the sheath. Are you listening Balios? Years and years ago I had a double folding umbrella which I really liked with a smallish curved knob real wood handle with a tiny metal crown symbol attached. It MIGHT have actually been an older Balios. Now, If you are reading this then you must be a bit fastidious about your umbrella and if so then you might like this one. Anyway I feel like I have my old umbrella again, except its better made, nicer materials and details, and I got this baby model to go with it.

Nice in theory but no follow through
It’s an attractive umbrella, don’t get me wrong, but it broke entirely on its first outing. The “windproof” umbrella faced a couple of gusts of wind when I got caught in a storm and turned into a tulip several times which caused both me and my dog to get soaked, and the silver, metal wires to bend. Now I have a droopy-on-one-side-umbrella. The pros were definitely pro-ing before this when the rain was just rain and not wind and rain. It’s super lightweight and opened and closed like butter. I definitely would not recommend this umbrella. There’s plenty more out there with similar look and price point. Might even be worth it to invest in a more expensive one because all the windproof ones I’ve tried at the lower price point just don’t work at all.

Perfect balance of design, size, style, functionality and price.
There is only one umbrella that is more compact made by a New York Company, but it costs 2-3x the price of this one. This is still small enough to fit into a very small purse or backpack without taking up most of the space. What good is an umbrella if it is too big to carry most of the time, so that you have it when you need it? Manual operation means less springs and parts that can break. How hard is it to push up an umbrella? Those auto mechanisms are convenient, but will eventually break, no matter what. The olive color is very nice and unique. The solid wood handle is beautiful and feels good in the hand. It held up to medium winds in London without fail. Perfect size for one adult.
