Less ice trays needed and ice last longer

Huge ice cube molds, very very nice for cocktail parties 🎈 and the Holidays!

Originally, I got this for my husband's large water bottle to make larger ice cubes (really needed in our summer weather). I measured the opening & looked at the dimensions of the ice cube in the ad. The ice cubes should have fit but did not when I filled up the silicone tray. The water expands, of course, but because the silicone is flexible it expands out slightly in addition to expanding up. If the tray is filled only about 2/3 full, then the ice cubes fit. In the end, I obtained a rectangular-shaped mold which works better. I then thought about other uses including making fancy ice cubes for company (whiskey or such as the ad suggests). This is not ideal either; the best looking smooth surfaces are the sides & bottom. However, the bottom edges are not square but beveled -- probably for ease of getting the ice cube out of the mold -- but if I was going to the trouble of making these ice cubes this is not the look I want. Also, even with the bevel it takes a little bit of effort to get the ice cubes out of the mold when it is filled (as opposed to only filling to 2/3, much easier to remove). For these reasons, I took off a star on my review. One nice feature is the lid. Finally, as others mention, the tongs are worthless, and I expected nothing so that did not alter my rating. My daughter used them for a science experiment before discarding.

I bought this because the nearest two PXs closest to me did not have standard ice trays for my mini refrigerator. This is good for making ice cubes but the canteen that I've got will not allow for the full size ice cubes to fit in the opening. So I have to make them half or 2/3 size. Other than that, it fills up easy, they freeze easy, and they're easy to push out from the bottom.

This item is exactly as advertised and pictured. It makes large, 2" cubic ice cubes. It works well, though you do have to be careful to make sure it is sitting level in the freezer, as the cubes will distort in shape otherwise due to the soft nature of the silicone. The cover is nice for keeping the water from subliming. The cubes are very easy to remove. It comes with 2 ice cube tongs, which are pretty useless, cheap and undersized for this size of cube. But they're an extra, so I'm not upset about it.

This mold is made with an appropriate thickness of silicone. It is stiff enough to carry it to the freezer without spilling but it is still easy to push them out. The lid is ingenious. It allows you to stack trays and it keeps out odor and debris from other items in your freezer.
