I know these very dark safety glasses are designed to be used as eye protection in conjunction with laser hair removal, and they are probably perfect for that specific purpose. However, I have found an alternative use for them. The darkness of the tinted lenses, in my opinion, is just the right strength for use with an oxy-acetylene torch, as they easily dark enough to protect your eyes from the brightness of the blue cone end flame, while at the same time transparent enough for you to clearly see the item you're working on.Although the tint is very strong, these safety glasses nowhere near strong enough for use with an Arc or MIG welder, and as such, would not give anywhere near the same protection as a full face welders mask.
