It is USB rechargeable and sucks. Too small to get anything by swinging. It has only zapped a total of four flies

will the shock hurt a human if they accodently touches the wire when teying to swat a fly?

No. There are two sets of conductors. The HOT screen is sandwiched between ground screens. Unless your fingers are the diameter of a pencil it's impossible to get shocked. Also turning it on doesn't energize it. You need to Also press a thumb button while attacking the fly to energize the screen

can u use regular batteries, when the rechargable batteries give out?

I just use regular batteries. They work great.

does the zapper make noise when it is not zapping a bug but it is on?

No. It only makes noise when there's a bug on it.
