Here is the Executive Summary: Buy this. You will like it. I have tried just about every knife sharpener there is from plain wet stones to expensive electric models. This is the one I always go back to. It is by far the easiest sharpener I have found. Best of all, it really works! No particular skill is required. As long as you can cut straight down you will be able to keep your knives sharp. This is my go-to Wedding present. I know it will get used and be appreciated. It is also durable and long lasting. Will it produce the most ultra razor sharp 8 degree sushi cutting edge you have ever seen? No. Will it keep your everyday kitchen and hunting knives sharp and ready to be safely used? Absolutely. I have several of these. One in the kitchen, one in the motor home, one in my game processing bag and one in my fishing bag. I have to get another one for my friend in Honduras. His wife confiscated the one I gave him to have in her kitchen. Like I said. Buy this. You will like it.

I'm relatively new to sharpening. I've bought so many sharpeners over the years and never felt comfortable sharpening my more expensive knives. I read about these on some blade forums and took a chance. So far I've used them mainly on my cheaper knives but I did attempt one of my more expensive ones, a large 7" blade. My greatest joy is that even though I'm a beginner it seems I didn't damage any of the blades. There are some good youtube videos on how to use this. Most important is to hold the blade as vertical as you can. I love that they have a pair of coarse and fine rods and that the rods store inside the wooden base. I don't like that when all 4 rods are installed one ceramic rod touches one diamond rod, which I think could cause some damage. However, I only install either the fine or course pair when sharpening so it's not a big deal. For the price these are great to learn on and to keep your knives sharp without spending a fortune and being a sharpening guru. Hope to learn on this and transition to some whetstones.

I've been carrying the original addition of the Lansky for years and I liked them, these are one step better. Honestly, I use the box for storage and protection. At my level, I could just hold the rods and sharpen a knife. The box does work, it's a tad universal but it works. Obviously, it is NOT the best choice for sharpening a knife in the home but in the field, it's a great choice! I've been sharpening knives since boot camp back in in the 1990's. I learned on Arkansas Black Stones and Japanese King Wet Stones. I thought they were the best deal in town. I had buddies using sanding belts and sandpaper with fantastic results. Decades later I was turned onto the Lansky and the DMT Diamond stones and I fell in love. You aren't going to reprofile a blade with these but you can retouch your blade to shaving sharp! Diamond stones move so much more steel cutting the job in half! The Ceramic rods in the original Lansky were good at maintaining your blade in the field but the diamond rods are that much better! The only downside to the Original Lansky were the ceramic rods, they could easily break in the field. This gave the edge to the DMT stones! Now that Lansky uses a heavy, well-made diamond rod this is a no brainer. Just keep in mind what these are used for, this is for quick maintenance not reprofiling. People that say the Lansky doesn't work are NOT honing their knives first. You HAVE to hone your knife either before a job or after! Every...single... time! Do this and the Lansky will keep your blade sharp and dependable. ​

Perfect for touching up knives in the kitchen, putting a new edge on older stuff, and holds up really well. Once you get a decent edge on things, a quick touchup with the ceramics is all you need.

An old man showed me what he said was the best knife sharpener you can buy. It was one like this. I got my pocket knives razor sharp as a kid. Used every type of knife sharpener since, and 3 decades later I fanlly got one. Old man was right. Works just like I remember. Great for people who havent developed the skill of using sand paper or a stone.

I've tried several types of knife-sharpening systems including different types of stones and electric sharpeners. Until I purchased this Lansky system, I was never able to sharpen any of my knives to a truly sharp edge. Not that I have a collection of high-quality knives. Most of mine are budget-type folding knives and a few camping knives that I purchased based on price instead of quality. Even so, the budget knives should still be capable of being honed to a good, sharp edge even if that sharpness won't last very long with repeated use of the knife. Well, the first four knives I sharpened with the Lansky system became sharp enough to shave with. We're talking M-Tech and similar style folders here. So I can highly recommend this system. To me, it's well worth the money and I'll probably purchase another one as soon as this one starts showing any significant wear on the sharpening rods. It is incredibly easy to use and gives remarkable results in much less time than a traditional sharpening stone. I don't think it would be as easy to use with knives that have blades longer than six or seven inches, but one of these days, I'll test out some of my larger knives to see how this tool works with them. In the meantime, I'm loving this tool. It works, it's fast, and it's easy.

Very happy with the sharpener. It take a bit of time to do harder steels but for soft stainless steel it does the trick with just a few strokes.

Es de fácil uso, sólo me falta buscar un desarmador para guardar la cerámica. Afilé un cuchillo aus 8a con curvatura en menos de 5 minutos, hasta me corté un poco al limpiar el filo. No lo he intentado con los otros metales que tengo ya que no necesitan aún mantenimiento pero lo veo muy funcional y práctico

Funciona muy bién y es muy fácilmente portable, pero cuesta un poco de utilizar. Una vez aprendes, perfecto. Altamente recomendable.
