I've read a few complaints about this here but my experience is quite different. It's made well and not one of us had a problem removing a napkin. we have a round table with a marble top. The base is gold so this goes well with it.

I hate side-loaded loose napkin holders, this is perfect
I've been looking for a brown or gold napkin holder to match my countertop. My local Walmart ONLY sells black paper towel and napkin holders, so I decided to go online. I'm very happy with this napkin holder, and now I'm using the old napkin holder to hold my journals.

Pretty holder but the gold is far to bright
The gold is too bright I was hoping for something toned down it said it was not bright gold, but it is got to send it back

GOLD COLOR LOOKS LIKE BRASS!
I wanted to love this but the color is just not it. I have several gold items in my kitchen that I hoped this would match. This is more of a yellow/orangey gold. It doesnt look anything like the photos. Buyer beware. if you're wanting more of a champagne brushed gold, DO NOT BUY THIS! Also, $15.00 is a little high for this product.
