I am struggling to get the flexi poles to fit in, any advice please?

We struggled with this, you need to be quite strong and bend the pole a bit

Can the side wings be rolled up without interferring on stability? Is there an attachment point for strings on the centre of the sides?

No, the side wings form part of the main structure. They can either be positioned straight down or pulled out to create more space. This is a good piece of kit, but my advice is buy stronger upright poles as the ones that come with it aren’t great if it’s windy.
