Great starting product
Great Kit! Super easy to take care of and manage. Spawned a massive colony! Only downside is the poor quality of the built-in LED, but it serves its purpose, and does a pretty decent job of it too!

Get sea monies instead
Edit to add: the colony of sea monkies is still going now (Jan 2026) 2nd review: I did an experiment starting march 31 (today is June 29) where I compared this product and the blue fairy castle from the sea monkey brand. At first I was thrilled with how fast the eggs hatched with this brand, there were so many! In the sea monkey tank, it took a LONG time to get any to hatch and it was only 1-3. Eventually though, there was a 100% death of all the sea dragons but my sea monkey colony is still going strong, with a couple of mating pairs at a time, a nice green carpet forming, and continual new shrimps emerging. I have now turned the sea dragon tank into a little terrarium. Original review: Got it yesterday! I already have a little over 10 baby "aqua dragons" flying around the tank. I bought the competitions original sea monkey kit and this one has been more exciting in the short time they've been running!

Fun!
It's cute! Instructions are very easy to follow. Price is expensive for what it is. But fun to watch them grow!

Loved watching the life cycles
This was my second time buying these. The first ones I bought 2 years ago and they did ok and we had a solid population for about a month but that container had a leaking problem (which many buyers complain about) and I just duct taped around the bottom. I learned not to keep their enclosure too close to a window bc the water evaporates quickly. Also, the first one stopped lighting up within a few days and changing the batteries while it’s full of water isn’t practical. Had full life cycles with this batch but the water got murky quickly and they lasted about a month. The second time I bought these was over the winter. The container was great and didn’t leak, stayed lit up for 2 months, and had no issues. This batch of aqua dragons lived for 2 months and mated and had live offspring so my 5 year old got to see the whole life cycle, mating riding pairs, pregnant females, and how they grow. We were very careful to feed them just a tiny amount, not even a full scoop bc otherwise the water gets nasty quickly and they die faster. And again, keep the container out of direct sunlight or it can heat up and evaporate. We had a ton from the second batch but sadly they eventually all die off. I learned a lot about brine shrimp and the container they’re in with this kit is honestly too small to have a long term successful colony bc no matter how careful you are, the small container isn’t sustainable. Once they all died, we set the container of water on a windowsill to dry up and allegedly once the water evaporates, there should be egg cysts crusted to the bottom that you can grow and start the whole thing over if you have the right water to salt ratio. Haven’t tried it but we enjoyed the kit, it was educational, and my son and I enjoyed it. Would do it again!

So fun
First off I’m going to admit that when I bought this kit, I also bought a spare batch of eggs and food just in case. I’m very glad that I did because the first attempt I learned some lessons. I did hatch all of my dragons in both attempts, however, in the first attempt only one dragon survived as far as over a week, but he lived for like two months. I learned about the feeding you do not feed until you see no green or any cloudy water so, thus far my new ones are thriving. I highly suggest this it is wicked fun the little tank lights up and everything. I’m doing this with my stepdaughter and it is such a fun learning experience. I’m in my 40s and I have to admit I’m pretty excited about my cute little aqua dragons. Only feed your dragons if you do not see food on top and the water is clear this is a valuable lesson. I learned with the first batch of dragons. Updated pictures for size.

Lights don’t work but everything else is cool
I love this little idea and my Aqua Dragons are very healthy and big….. I just can’t see them without a flashlight. The habitat is faulty and the lights don’t work right with the switch. I would love to have a new tank that works but I’m not sure if I’d have to return this one and my dragons are all hatched I don’t wanna kill them.

Lots of eggs!
Used spring water from the grocery store, added the entire pouch of eggs like it said… a couple days later there’s like a billion of them 😵💫 the tinest little things. I tried the actually Sea Monkeys brand this past Christmas with the kids but even almost two weeks later there was nothing after following directions, so we switch to this brand. I’m unsure if there’s a way to do less of the packet of eggs so you can save some, and not have so many at once, but unsure if it’s because there’s also salt added, and you need all that salt for the amount of water? When these shrimp start growing into adult sizes I’m scared they’re really gonna outgrow this with the amount there is in here. I am serious when I say that there are so many. I’m talking like 200 right now and not even all the eggs are hatched just yet, it’s only been day two going into day three. I suggest getting more information on these guys, perhaps finding out a way to get a bigger tank/container with the right salt parameters for the amount of sea monkeys there are. Like for a one gallon tank. I’ll be checking it out.

Fun to see them swimming!
It took a little while longer than we thought for them to grow so we could see them, they are now swimming all around though and it's so neat to watch them! Very easy to care for, good quality and matches the description!

Good hatching rate.
Purchased this in December as my son's christmas gifts. We're happy with the hatching rate. They have started reproducing now. We placed ours in the east window.

Did not see any growth
I’m not sure if we did something wrong, but we never saw the Aqua Dragons grow or develop. We followed the instructions, but there wasn’t any noticeable change over time, which was disappointing for us. Overall, our experience didn’t match what we expected from the product.
