Tom Wolfe Carves Woodspirits and Walking Sticks (Schiffer Book for Woodcarvers)

Loved this Book I have been reading many Books on this subject, I am just New into Wood Carving and wanted some Photo's and details on how to do my Own. A great Book to have in your Library, with step by step Photo's, it gives you slow and easy details, so We can get it right, and if you want more on this try Utube, it will lead you, to more Books and Dvd's on wood carving, Tools you need and the Wood, have fun I am, and don't forget the Cheap Books, from Amazon, saved me heaps, Goodbye.

My husband is 81 and began wood carving about 5 years ago. His first pieces were really not that great, but with time, effort and some guidance from his fellow carvers at a senior center, he has become quite good at it. He loves going on jaunts looking for wood roots and branches to carve faces into the natural flow of the wood grain and bark. This book has been a real help in that regard.

A really good book for beginners. It could have included a better description of exactly which tools to use. Otherwise an excellent choice!

This book is very detailed and informative. I am a novice wood carver and this book has helped more than many other books I have read about Wood Spirits. Would recommend for the novice or the advanced wood carver.

After purchasing several books on carving wood spirits I've come to the realization that if you really want to learn how to carve wood spirits or anything, the best way is to join a carving club or try and find someone who is experience in this craft and is willing to give some one on one tutoring. I'm the type of person who likes to see some decent results after spending hours of carving. These little books just show you how good these authors are at carving and in my opinion nothing else. My advise to anyone wanting to try their hand is don't spend a lot of money on carving knives and tools until you try it.

My parents own a cabin high in the mountains. I am excited to be able to pick out wood for walking sticks and carve them in to beautiful works of art. This book is easy to follow the steps. I look forward to my new adventure.

I am a beginning carver and I have found this book to be very informative. The instuctions along with exceptionally great photos are very concise and easy to follow. The Gallery in the back of the book really gets your imagination started! I recommend this for any carver.

I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE FIRST RATE FOR THE BEGINNER OR THE MORE ADVANCED CARVER. THE DETAIL IN THE PHOTOS ARE GOOD AND STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS WILL SOON HAVE YOU.CARVING GREAT FACES.

Good for information but not necessarily for finding blanks outside of the American market. I live in Australia and finding it difficult to source suppliers. Ivan (I am the one doing the carving)

Bonjour, un livre intéressant pour le travaille aux couteaux. Une explication complète pas à pas du motif de la couverture très très détaillés, et une explication complète très détaillés de la réalisation d'un visage restent dans le même style pour réalisé une canne. Puis le reste du livre présente une galerie des créations de l'artiste. Livre en anglais, pas utile de savoir lire l'anglais le pas à pas suffit pour la réalisation des deux pièces. Excellent tutorial arrived in good time and with plenty of pictures and easy to follow text just wish I could find chunky bits of wood like tom Wolfe
