I saw a video on you-tube where a dermatologist ridiculed people that DIY vitamin C serum. He stated that an aqueous solution of L-ascorbic acid was not absorbed by the skin. He said ester C was the correct version of vitamin C since it is capable of penetrating the lipid cell membrane. He also said ester C was too hard for common people to make because you have to be a chemist to make it! Well, I had to laugh. He was correct about the cell membrane being made of lipids & ester C is more compatible. While I'm not a chemist, I do know how to use the search feature on a tablet. I had to email this doctor to let him know we aren't all fools, we are capable of figuring percentages. But I digress. I do like this ester C. It is soluable in oils, such as vitamin E or Argan or jojoba or all 3 if you please. I prefer the jojoba or Argan since both are high in vitamin E and are quickly absorbed by the skin. I dissolved 20 grams of ester C into 100mL of jojoba (I also added 1mL of preservative). I prefer to weigh my chemicals instead of using teaspoons, it's more accurate. I purchased a small jeweler's scale from Amazon for about $25, that's a great bargain. Look for a scale that can go into the thousanth of a gram ie 0.001 Anyway, Bulk Supplements is a good company & I like all of the products I have purchased from them. I will definetly buy the Ascorbyl palmitate (ester C) again. I also will keep using the L-ascorbic acid. I've made a serum that I call Double C --- it has both vitamin C powders. I like it. Sad that a company relies so little on their loyal customers. This was my interaction with Bulk Supplements customer service.. I have been using this product every day for 3 years now. My wife opened this last batch and noticed it looked different and had a terrible chemical smell. Her nostrils burned afterwards. I won't use it. What to do? BulkSupplements Pure Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Ester) Powder (500 grams) So far the product is great! Arrived in a timely fashion. I can not taste the powder when mixed with water, although my sense of taste is dulled at the moment due to a cold. The powder is harder to get to mix with water than the ALCAR one, but it does eventually mix. It seems to digest well, even on an empty stomach! I like that I don't have to worry about what has been added to a pill with these bulk supplements. The only negative is that it is rather confusing with serving size and directions not corresponding with each other at all. Fortunately, I've never heard of anyone getting into trouble with too much vitamin C.

This is very fine powder. It blends in very easily. It's not grainy at all. I use it on my skin and mix it with my moisturizer. I used to use ascorbic acid that was too grainy. It doesn't seem to do any lightening but it does make my skin very smooth and supple. I also take it as a supplement for my brain because it crosses the blood brain barrier. I'm hoping to prevent any lipofuscin or other oxidant type action.

This arrived FAST. I purchased it to pair with MSM for detoxing and rebuilding cells and tissues (there is some good info her: http://www.treelight.com/health/nutrition/MSM.html), and for topical lotions. After researching this was the most economical way to purchase Ester C, and Ester C is definetly the way to go, it is so much more absorbable internally and externally, not to mention there are no fillers or anything other than the Ester C. I am very happy about that :). I will revisit this review and update on how well this brand has performed next to other brands i have used for awhile longer.
