I'm mostly pretty happy with this dress. The fit is pretty good. I'm 122-ish lbs, 5'4", B cup, and I ordered a small. I might have liked to see if a medium would be better for me, as the shoulder-blade area is slightly tight when doing certain motions, but it really isn't too hindering. Keep in mind though, that this fabric has almost no give at all. Since you have the tightening versatility of a waist sash and corset front, I think I'd recommend going up a size if you're on the fence. Still, I wore it all day yesterday without the shoulder tightness being too much of an issue.I will also say that I was initially very excited that this is said to be 98% cotton. Because of that, I was expecting the fabric to feel much different than it does. Maybe I wasn't aware of how much variation there could be in the feel, or quality, of cotton... but this isn't what I thought it would feel like. It has a rough-ish texture (though not scratchy or irritating at all). It certainly isn't soft. While it's also thinner than I expected, it's at least somewhat dense, and almost sort of stiff. It doesn't feel like it would rip easily. I got the blue version, and am able to wear black undergarments without it showing through.Overall, I'd recommend trying this dress out, as long as you're not putting a lot of hope in a typically soft cottony feel!

Love this period dress. It’s well-made, has a beautiful design, detail and color. The front laces is adjustable. There’s a tie in the back. Very figure flattering. The length on me goes to my ankles, I’m 5’3”. Great dress for parties, reenactments, cosplay and more.

fit was very strange, fabric is stiff. Its just not comfortable or cute.

I was so hopeful for this dress, but the bust was sewn way too short for being offered in plus size. It was not flattering at all, and the material seemed thick and heavy. Not like modern materials, but almost like a sack. Very disappointed.

It is the right size and super light weight which is nice but it is not as soft of material as other items from this brand. The dress also wrinkles REALLY easily, again compared to other items from this brand. If it was the same material as their skirts I would have given a full 5 stars

I have never gotten something from Scarlet Darkness I don’t love & this dress is no exception. The fabric itself is very soft. It isn’t some thin, flimsy costume material but feels like actual clothes. I would say that all of their stuff, even this dress, is made to be wore as part of a normal wardrobe, no matter what era or style it’s made in.I won’t be adding this dress into my normal wardrobe because I’m a mom of 2 toddlers but I will be saving it for balls, costume parties, ren faires, school presentations, & the like! It has some amazing stretch to it & is super comfortable. The blue is a nice subtle color choice as well & pairs well with a wide range of colors & other accessories so that you’re able to wear this dress for multiple eras depending on how you wear it. I would highly recommend this dress!

I am pleased with this vintage-inspired dress. I love the lacing on the front as well as the ruffled sleeves. The material is mostly cotton and feels high-quality, though thin. I have no complaints about this elegant, dramatic dress.
