What diameter is this line? I'm looking for something to use with my plumb bobs. Thanks!

I don't know the exact diameter. It is hard to measure because it is small and soft, but roughly 1/16". I'm not a tradesman, but it should be excellent for plumb bobs and similar general uses: it is strong, soft (no kinks), holds a knot well (but then harder to untie), and doesn't fray as easily as the twisted version. It is something like the inner strands of paracord, but braided.

Is it coated with plastic

It is not plastic coated. Just made of nylon so it does not rot. I criss crossed it to make a cucumber trestle worked great.

Does this work well outdoors? I want to use it in the garden where it will be exposed to sunlight for months.

Nylon breaks down in sunlight, but it will take a long time. "Long" is a relative term. Nylon is considered UV resistant. This will work well, but may need to be replaced in a few (2-5? My guess; May last longer) years.

Would this fray (and then break) if it rubbed against brick?

More than likely, it would eventually fray and break, but I can't think of what wouldn't.
